I just wanted to know if Patricia Ireland or any of the liberal feminists in the USA are concerned that the "Israel Council for Demography" has a mandate  to encourage Jewish households to have more children...and seeks to discourage Jews from abortion and intermarriage.

Report: Israeli Arabs and Palestinians set to outnumber Israeli Jews within 20 years By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

A demographic study released Tuesday shows the Jewish population outside Israel declining and predicts that in Israel and the Palestinian territories, Arabs will outnumber Jews by the year 2020.

The survey, commissioned by a new Jerusalem-based institute chaired by former Mideast peace negotiator Dennis Ross, says the world Jewish population stands at 12.8 million, with 5 million in Israel and 7.8 million elsewhere.

While the number of Jewish Israelis has doubled since 1970, boosted by a million immigrants from the former Soviet Union, the Jewish population overseas has shrunk by 2.2 million, much more than the number of emigrants to Israel.

The largest Jewish community outside Israel is in North America, where the survey showed a population of 5.6 million, virtually unchanged over the past 32 years.

Professor Sergio DellaPergola, head of the division of Jewish demography and statistics at Jerusalem's Hebrew University, said that the Jewish population abroad had been subject to the same factors as non-Jewish groups - increased rates of divorce and a decline in marriages reducing the number of births.

In addition, he wrote in the survey's introduction, large numbers of Jews abroad were marrying non-Jewish partners, and in most cases their children were not identified as Jewish.

In Israel, government statistics show that the Jewish population is growing at a slower pace than that of the Muslim and Christian Arab communities.

The survey, commissioned by the Jewish People Policy and Planning Institute, predicts that by 2020 there will be 6.3 million Jews and close to 2 million Arabs in Israel, with another 5.6 million Arabs in the Palestinian territories.

Those figures, it says, have serious implications for Israeli policy.

"Demography is deeply intertwined with the Palestinian-Israeli conflict," DellaPergola said. "Differential Jewish and Arab growth rates and population composition need to be evaluated when analyzing the conflict's continuing implications and possible solutions."

Former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak, who was willing to give the Palestinians an independent state on most of the West Bank and Gaza Strip and parts of east Jerusalem, argued that such a policy was essential to retain a Jewish majority in a democratic state of Israel.

Some hard-liners in the government of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon want Israel's borders to include the entire Holy Land, and favor expelling the 3 million Palestinians who live there.

In September, the government-funded Israel Council for Demography was revived after being dormant for five years. Its mandate is to encourage Jewish households to have more children, using incentives such as housing benefits and other government grants.

Headed by Social Welfare Minister Shlomo Benizri of the Orthodox Jewish Shas party, the council also seeks to discourage Jews from abortion and intermarriage.

Critics charged that reactivation of the council amounted to racism.

Wouldn't surprise me if heretofore "fringe" rhetoric about ethnic cleansing and depopulation of Palis becomes mainstream soon. The ZOG press will try to spin anything, and they know the dispensational evangelicals will support them no matter what atrocities they commit.

Well, President Clinton already said publicly that allowing Palestinian immigration would "fundamentally alter the Isreali state" So, we know whose side the Politicians will be on.

The press will no doubt innundate us with thousands of images of blown up buses, restaurants, planes, trees, abortion clinics, whatever. And sure as sh*t Sally Soccermom will say "Wow, they really need to get those quacks outta their country."

(meanwhile, Jose and Juanita and their 5 bastard-babies inch ever-closer to her suburban oasis)

Before I was banned at FR there were posts seriously advocating the use of neutron bombs on the Palis.

The ethnic cleansing of the West Bank will start in the next 10 years.

I think that a major expulsion of all Palestinians from both the Territories and Israel proper is in the offing.

A war with Iraq was to be the cover for that, I suspect. Israel's position has long been that "there already exists a Palestinian state" called Jordan, and that the Palestinians should move there. As compensation, our Zionist masters would give Jordan a big chunk of Iraqi territory that America will pay for with her blood and treasure, and also spend much more of our treasure building both Jews and Palestinians houses in the West Bank and in Jordan, respectively.

That's why Wolfowitz is so apoplectic about Bush backtracking on the war with Iraq.

I hope it happens. Israel will totally overplay its hand, and there is sure to be a terrible reaction in Europe and Russia, maybe even China who could use it as an excuse to make some geopolitical moves of its own (Taiwan???)

Heh, you want even more geopolitical intrigue? What would happen if Bush didn't stop the Israelis' ethnic cleansing campaign while we're mucking around in Iraq and suddenly all the Arab oil barons divested of the US and shifted 100% of their banking and investments into the EU? The sheiks could bring this country to its knees overnight.

I don't know why an Iraq invasion is universally accepted as the trigger for Sharon to drive out the Palis. I can't imagine Boosh having the sack to hold the sword over Israel to stop it from driving out the Palis under any circumstances, so our armed forces preoccupied in Iraq shouldn't make any difference. Nor is it a 100% guarantee that the Palis would riot en masse the moment we invaded and provide the Israelis with a pretext to liquidate them.

I think we agree.

I do NOT believe that Zionist power is as monolithic as some on this board apparently do.

Pace David Duke, it is about oil. It's about Israel, too. But Big Oil is definitely a factor.

Bush represents the Houston Oil Boys. So does Cheney. These folks are mostly white and Protestant. They have their interests and power base, as does Israel. Right now those interests line up very nicely.

The Houston Boys want to control Iraqi oil as a way to control the financing of pipelines in Russia and China, and accross Turkey. They need to get a better handle on the price of oil, before Russia becomes a major competitor for the burgeoning Chinese market.

Israel - well, it's clear enough what they want. They want to take out Saddam and re-settle 3 million Palestinians. They also want to ensure the construction of the Baku-Tblisi-Ceyan pipeline, for which the Cechen War was fought. Financing was recently approved.

The stars line up. But they don't always line up. Jews don't vote GOP, at least for the past 70 years. The Jewish press is very Democrat. What you say about the Sheiks is right on target. If Israel ever were to get in the crosshairs of Big Oil, then sides would flip-flop and trouble would ensue.
