Did the Mossad assassinate Robert Maxwell?
Gordon Thomas; Martin Dillon 11/25/2002
ON A SUNNY September day in 1991 - one of those balmy afternoons when Israelis like to tell each other that this is why God chose their country as the Promised Land - four men made their way across Tel Aviv to a drab high-rise office on the city's King Saul Boulevard. They arrived separately, purposeful yet inscrutable figures who knew how to blend in with the crowd. Even among themselves, they prized their anonymity and usually used only their first names: Zvi, Efraim, Uri and Nahum. Outside the shadowy world in which they moved, no one knew what they did.

Did business with a west coast information broker who sold her company to a Maxwell daughter. After the sale, the venture failed, before his death. Had friends in London that had ongoing business ties to Maxwell. None thought well of him.

From a message from reader mail:
Maxwell killed by The Mossad: New BookOctober 25, 2002 -- British media tycoon Robert Maxwell was murdered by the Israeli secret services, according to a new book, which also alleges the flamboyant millionaire was an Israeli spy and had links to organized crime in Eastern Europe.
Robert Maxwell, Israel's Superspy, to be published in December by Carroll and Graf, claims Mossad decided to get rid of Maxwell because he was threatening to expose his knowledge of Israeli secrets unless he received Israeli help in propping up his failing businesses.
Maxwell's sudden death at sea in November 1991 off the Canary Islands brought about the collapse of his worldwide publishing empire and triggered theories ranging from suicide, murder or accident.Maxwell -- who owned the Daily News at the time -- disappeared overboard just as the complex web of financial deals keeping his businesses afloat was beginning to unravel and a few weeks after U.S. investigative journalist Seymour Hersh published a book claiming Maxwell had close ties with the Israeli secret services.
The new book, by British thriller writer Gordon Thomas and Irish journalist Martin Dillon, is based on interviews with former Mossad agents and chiefs.Thomas and Dillon claim Maxwell was killed by Mossad agents who boarded his private yacht under cover of darkness and plunged a needle filled with a lethal nerve agent into Maxwell's neck. They then lowered his body into the sea.Reuters
