Version 0.4 of the Phoenix Browser is out.

I've been using it for a couple of days and its very good, and stable.

A link for anyone who wants to try it: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/phoenix/ph...lease-notes.htm

The Phoenix Project

Phoenix is a redesign of the Mozilla browser component, similar to Galeon, K-Meleon and Chimera, but written using the XUL user interface language and designed to be cross-platform.

For your testing pleasure, we provide nightly binaries and milestones. See the Phoenix Releases page for more information.

Phoenix build instructions are available in the README (which is otherwise outdated, for the most part)

If you're interested in where we're going and when we expect to get there then you probably want the Phoenix Roadmap. The doc is still a work in progress and the dates are likely to fluctuate for a while.

We track bugs using Bugzilla. Because the project is small and tightly managed, bugs targeted to a particular milestone generally will be fixed by that milestone. In fact, our milestone releases are bug-driven, not date-driven.

Also see this page.

My favorite browser by a long shot.

Texas Dissident,

Yes Opera is a great browser. I have used it and it works much better than anything AOL or MS put out. But I do like the idea of a open-source web browser like Mozilla.

I like open-source too, Faust. I work with Linux-Mandrake from time to time. But until they give me a browser that can open multiple pages within the same browser, then I'll go with Opera. Plus, it just so much dang faster than everything else.

TD,

Phoenix has tabbed browsing. It also two other essentials missing from IE, a popup blocker and keyboard zoom. I'll give opera a try.
