"We can't have two immigration policies in this country," Tancredo said before rushing outside to meet television cameras. "There are legal ramifications to these decisions. This is serious, and it's something we can't ignore."
Webb's spokesman, Andrew Hudson, dismissed the criticism.
"Tom Tancredo is the perfect Halloween goblin," Hudson said Thursday from his city hall office. "You don't know whether to scream in fright . . . or laugh in his face because he's so ridiculous."
Outside, three dozen protesters countering the immigration-reform group jostled for position and chanted, "This is about human rights."

Civilians patrol border By Susan Carroll
Desperate illegal immigrants easy prey for scams
In the sprawling ranch land just north of the Arizona-Sonora border, teams ofômen outfitted in camouflage and armed with rifles are camped out round-the-clock, waiting for an illegal immigrant or drug smuggler to cross the line.
The men are not U.S. Border Patrol agents.
They are a loose-knit band of civilians - reserve police officers, sheriff's deputies, a former Navy SEAL - who are the brawn behind the organization Ranch Rescue, a controversial movement to protect private land in Arizona.
The armed citizen patrol, which originated in Texas, is staking out the Arizona border in hopes of sending a message to the U.S. government, said Jack Foote, spokesman for Ranch Rescue: Take care of the border or we'll take care of it ourselves.

I love this "objective" news coverage. The headlines should have more naturally said "protestors target Webb's proimmigration policies". But there's only onre group of grassroots protestors who's numbers count, apparently.
Denver newspaper coverage has been so wonderfully biased since first the Denvre Post, and then the Rocky Mountain News, were taken over by that wonderfully left-wing paper "The Oakland Tribune".
