Prediction: Just a joke! Ha Ha!

Mikek47906,

Sadly there are many who would do this in the next years. I saw part of the "West Wing" last night, with pipe bombing "Patriots" making drugs, and abusing children. "Liberal" hate America and are killing it very fast.

I would recommend Thomas Chittum's book, Civil War Two, which explores these possibilities. Available at amazon.com ;)

Mike, the roundup of White dissidents is already taking place(Duke) in 2003, so I figure your prediction is right on target. Just like Castro, Stalin, Mugabe, et al who, rounded up political opponents for imprisonment, torture and death, so it will go in the Socialist States of Americkwa. It's truly a sad time in history. The Sunset of Civilization.

If such an event is to come, then we need to make the best of the resources we have available now to prepare.

As I see it, networking is a practical and attainable first step. The internet is without a doubt the most valuable resource we have, but still falls short in many respects. We should be in personal contact with as many like-minded folks as is possible, not only on-line but in the real world, as well. Nothing compares to real relationships created and sustained by face-to-face contact. I know I'm guilty of this too, not having met any fellow ODers outside of our cyberworld.

Now if there was some individual or organization that each of us could place our trust in, then perhaps we could envision some type of centralized database or clearinghouse of contacts/personal information, etc. I don't know of anyone or any group that possesses that kind of credibility with all parts of the movement, though. Looking at everything we talk about here, it is the next step IMO. Whether we need or should try and take that kind of step is open to debate, for sure, because once one commits to that kind of project it fundamentally changes what you are about.

The problem is that most folks of our persuasion are vehemently private individuals with no inclination to share any kind of personal information with anyone. Kind of hard to build networks with folks like that, myself included. That is why face to face relationships are important as it is sometimes hard to decipher just who is who via a computer monitor. Groups like the ADL are professionals at infiltration and subversion tactics. One usually can gain a better impression of people and what they're about when looking them in the eye.

All in all, a thought-provoking post, Mike.

It's very hard NOT to be "paranoid" about releasing personal info even on such a board filled with lovely and 'right-minded' folks as we have here. We all know"we're" being watched here. ADL and their ilk are probably vaccuuming up all the messages we send, anonymously or not -- because how many of us are reliably using PGP?

Still, this list DOES serve a massively important function -- because we DO come to "know," at least to some extent, our confreres and consorores. (Is that a word? ) If I were heading to, say, Texas, I would privately message Tex Diss, and see if he wanted to meet face-to-face, there in Texas -- because I have a pretty strong "feel" for him: he's NOT an ADL plant, he IS 'my kinda folks' (even if he IS strongly and staunchly Christian :P ).

Same with Wintermute and N.B.F. (and you KNOW I love you both! ) and a bunch of others -- I have their measure -- and would feel comfortable sharing my own personal info with them, and guarding theirs... Rainman? Not on a bet! Nor Wombatnine, no matter what he calls himself today...

So, being the cautious and AWAKE people we are, we would judiciously and carefully create our 'real' network (we ARE) ... much slower and much less openly -- but then, we're much less likely to be infiltrated by provocateurs because we're not opening the doors to just anyone.

Is this unfair to what would be some perfectly appropriate 'members' of our group? Sure. But when you're in a war for survival, and the 'infiltrators' can look and act just like you, you have to be doubly careful, no?

Another benefit of the Internet is that we don't need such an organization. Just imagine how much the government would love to have all of our information in one place... with all of the surveillance that they have, they're close enough to that already.

I agree 100% that networking is the way to go. Everyone here posts on other boards and knows people there who don't post here. Those people in turn know others, and so on. So even if for a while we have a lot of "friend of a friend of a friend" type of contact, it gives us something to start with.... but we've already seen how easily givernment infiltrators have gotten in to our organizations, and we have to be more careful of that than ever with the anonymity that the 'net gives us.
