Rob Moody, of www.Strike-The-Root.com, has assembled an excellent list of the latest Alexa Web-rankings for Right/libertarian/anarchist sites (I need to bug him to add, say, Vdare.com and OriginalDissent.com, to the list, but it's a good start): http://www.strike-the-root.com/traffic.html

Some interesting finds (these are the last 4 Alexa cycles--from 7/22 to present; most-recent ranking is first in column):

LewRockwell is the Web's phenom: 5,731 6,930 8,085 8,848

EtherZone continues to kick a$$: 19,711 23,382 28,456 32,166 34,412

FriendsOfLiberty.com (mine) has exploded: 216,742 339,644 452,868 448,166

Enter Stage Right is treading water: 130,782 122,865 122,753 123,825

AndrewSullivan.com has no pulse at all: 16,594 15,869 16,023 16,029

NationalReview is a flatliner, as well: 3,974 3,920 3,883 3,907

WeeklyStandard.com is suckin' wind: 12,409 12,292 13,522 13,430

OD is at 106,006 (pretty NICE)

If you want OD added, mebbe send him a nice note at: rob@strike-the-root.com; can't guarantee anything, but he added my site to his list and I'm on pretty good terms w/ him (drop my name if you wish; probably won't help or hurt).

As of today, OD's inching up to 103,000. A little bit more and we become the establishment.

:D

Raimondo's at 7,684. Which is pretty f*g amazing!

Horowitz's FRONT PAGE near comatose at 82,783. Way to go with that 'new look' that gives everyone a migraine, Davey! (His numbers have GOT to be wayyy down.)

Tex, we now have a purpose in cyberspace: we gotta beat Horowitz, Glazov, Rubush, Coulter and the rest of the FRONT PAGE neo rogues-gallery.

103,000 ; 82, 783. Dammit, we can do it!

Here's another to chew on: VNN leaping up to 25, 601. That's amazing since they were over 33,000 a few weeks ago. That, and Raimondo's numbers, are by far the most impressive in the bunch.

Now NR is a recognizable brand-name and by far the liveliest read of the neozines, its days of august solemnity long since gone to earth, and you can understand its being up there. But who the heck is propping up Sullivan & the Standard, the bulwarks of Right-lite?

Of course you realize that once you become Establishment, I, as an Unappeasable, will have to use Marxist Propaganda and Hate Speech to make my points...as all of us who don't Follow The Program do...hehe.

Boy, bet Horowitz is going NUTS. He absolutely HATES Raimondo. :D I remember that from Free Republic.

Hey, we're practically establishment now. Let me try my best JR impersonation.

Up to 100,999 now.

The funny thing is if you go to the Alexa page, scroll down and look who it shows links to us.

LOL

Is my face red!

Something must be badly askew with my Alexa toolbar.....the other day, FRONT PAGE clearly read as 82,000 and change (I checked it THREE times that day to make sure!)....today it's 9, 630.

Being a pessimmist by nature, I'll assume the higher number was incorrect. I'll have to delete and reinstall Alexa, as a discrepancy that big renders the version I presently have useless.

Anybody else out there encounter similarly way-off number rankings? Is that a common Alexa glitch, or a corrupted program?

Someone asked how Alexa worked. I just ran Ad-aware and it caught a "suspicious" registry key. Guess what was it? Alexa. Apparently your PC sends information on what you browse to Alexa.

That's exactly right, MR. I believe they tell you this on their "How it Works" type page.

I also recommend Lavasoft's Ad-Aware. Nice program that identifies all spyware, even though it has difficulties removing items in the registry. I have to use regedit to remove those.

It removes items from my PC's registry alright. Is this Alexa thing bundled with IE? It would seem so, because I don't remember installing a spy program

One would think that Microsoft should warn you about this.

Oh, I see. You never downloaded the Alexa toolbar? Then that is strange. Surely IE wouldn't be bundling that covertly.

I've never downloaded the Alexa toolbar because I don't generally use IE. Opera is far and away my first choice, but I also like the latest release of Konqueror that is included with KDE 3.0. I don't care for Mozilla or Netscape.

I never download toolbars. The Alexa registry key was under Microsoft/IE, hence my suspicions. Actually, I just downloaded a IE service pack and then ran Ad-aware immediately.

As far as MS warning, do you think anyone reads those agreements before clicking yes?

                I know I don't. :(

I just downloaded that service pack the other day, also. Do you remember the registry key for Alexa that Ad-Aware identified?

Though my southern-WASP genetics don't lend themselves to showy, hyper promotion, I would direct anyone who may be interested in such things to check out our latest Alexa ranking. We have entered the 70,000 range and that's just about a full 30,000 upswing from where we were just a couple of months ago. L'affaire VNN gave us a spike in October, but since that died down we've steadily climbed back up and now have a daily average of visitors that exceed the amount we had then.

Thanks to everyone who participates here. It's y'all's contribution that makes any visit to OD's pages worthwhile. It really is amazing when I reflect on how this all started back in September/October of 2001 with a few casual emails to AntiYuppie, Sert and FWI. I think I would have pulled the plug long ago if it weren't for those outstanding guys and men of real integrity.

Special thanks to David Irving's Action Report Online for linking to our board the other day. It is one of the main reasons for our high numbers here in December.

Excelsior, Tex, excelsior!

I can't find that Irving link to OD, though. On the other hand, I couldn't help but notice he'd cribbed one of my thread-titles (ADL Wants Finkelstein Silenced: Defending Free Speech With A Ball Gag) which was pretty cool.

Never mind; I see it now....
