| US security chief strives to expel all illegal immigrants Oct 18 11:47 AM US/Eastern Email this story |
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said his department aims without exception to expel all those who enter the United States illegally.
"Our goal at DHS (Homeland Security) is to completely eliminate the 'catch and release' enforcement problem, and return every single illegal entrant, no exceptions. "It should be possible to achieve significant and measurable progress to this end in less than a year," Chertoff told a Senate hearing. Thousands of "Mexicans who are caught entering the United States illegally are returned immediately to Mexico. But other parts of the system have nearly collapsed under the weight of numbers. The problem is especially severe for non-Mexicans apprehended at the southwest border," Chertoff explained. "Today, a non-Mexican illegal immigrant caught trying to enter the United States across the southwest border has an 80 percent chance of being released immediately because we lack the holding facilities," he added. "Through a comprehensive approach, we are moving to end this 'catch and release' style of border enforcement by reengineering our detention and removal process." Chertoff's remarks in favor of returning "every illegal entrant, no exceptions" appeared to conflict directly with the US policy toward illegal Cuban migrants. Though Cubans picked up at sea are returned to their country, those who reach US soil by air, sea or ground are allowed to stay and work -- a fact Cuba says encourages dangerous illegal emigration attempts.

It sounds like someone's finally seen the poll numbers that the Democrats are looking at to rearange strategies for the next election. Anyone want to take bets on how long this will take to get reworded into Bush hates Mexicans? Or that Chertoff is a racist?

BB - I was just thinking the same thing, yes there will be cries of "racisim". Also, Im thinking this is nothing more than comrade Chetoff preparing the way for the guest worker/amnesty bit.

Indeed, the "tough border enforcement" and interior sweeps part of this plan will be token and only for show.
The real agenda here is amnesty, thinly disguised as a "guest worker" plan. The jackasses in D.C. are liars through and through, and should never be believed or respected.

The lobbyists for illegal aliens are already pounding Chertoff but I suspect this is really just a red-herring because he hasn't articulated a plan. I don't trust Bush on this issue and Chertoff is Bush's man.

The public overwhelmingly objects to amnesty and citizenship being given to illegals. So, the "guest worker" plan was divised to slide the amnesty plan past the public.
I say we just deport them. We don't have to spend a lot of resources. But, just sent a message that if you're hear illegally, eventually you'll be deported, so you might as well leave now, on your own terms, before you're caught.

But the political will to do this is to be found in only one or two of the elected. All the other liars represent the cheap labor companies and open borders lobby. The real key is to take the jobs away from them. Referendums at the state and local level must be pushed through which mandate arrest and stiff fines for anyone who employs illegals. This is possible in most states.

Deporting them is only one side of the coin, the other side has to do with preventing them from turning around and coming back in. Right now, it's nothing but a joke. We deport, they turn around and come back.
The seminal question being raised by the illegals' activist groups is...what about the rest of the family, the children who are born here? Good point. Change the stupid law. If you're illegal so are your children. Ship them all back. One thing I've noticed about these illegal aliens, they multiply like rabbits. Every young Chica is pregnant. Under current laws, that makes her eligible for citizenship because her child will automatically become one. If this isn't the height of stupidity and a suicidal pathology, I don't know what is. Rome might have come close in the 5th century.
Which leads me to my point. Chertoff isn't fooling me. He's failed to offer a blueprint for a comprehensive plan that would once and for all get all the illegals out of this country. To do so means a multi-pronged attack that would include the courts, the employees, all the benefits that are available to them and the ability to prevent them from coming back in. How about mining the border in front of an electrified fence with a moat filled with alligators several yards away? Maybe that will slow them down. Otherwise, forget it. It will never amount to anything but political rhetoric.

If the Mad Russian was here, he would tell us to "machinegun them."
Which, of course, works for me.

Not only the wetbacks take advantage of the cop a squat for citizenship plan. The H1B visa dot head that I work with just gave birth to a little boy. Her number one thought was not wow I'm having a baby but now It'll speed up my citizenship. Her exact words when she told me she was pregnant were, "My husband expected me to get pregnant sooner so we didn't have to worry about the visas." :shocking:

What the citizens think and vote for/against doesn't matter anymore. Get ready for the blessed Supreme Court ruling that it is a violation of someone's civil rights to deport them. They'll get their amnesty one way or another because the globalists want them here.
