Feminism in Films, Part II

We have seen about 5 movies at the movie theaters this year. And none of the women in those movies were homemakers/housewives. All of the women had professional vocations, i.e., they were cops, lawyers, accountants, etc.

In fact, we don't recall the last time we saw a modern movie in which the lead female character was a homemaker.

That feature, of course, sends a strong message to young women that they should have professional careers instead of having, and raising, children. So that feature is really a type of feminism.

But the problem is that it isn't called feminism. In fact, it appears to go unnoticed by most movie-watchers.

We hope that political pundits will soon begin to call it feminism.

You raise an excellent point. It's now taken for granted that women do not stay at home to raise a family and those who do are stigmatized. It's a codified, covertly held belief especially among working younger women, that women who stay at home are somehow less attractive and are dull.

And yet in the real world, so many young women who've been fed this notion that they can have it all, are sick of the lie and the treadmill they're on. In fact, it's only in the movies that these super-fems wind up with the man every time. In the mundane world of supply and demand, many young women over the age of 30 who gave their all to a career are finding it impossible to find not just the man of their dreams, but any man.

The child-bearing years start slipping away and with it comes the sobering realization that working for corporate America isn't everything a woman can wish for, but by that time, it's too late. Add to the fact that many men are now out of the closet, the number of available straights in the 30-40 category is also taking a hit. Such is the single scene in NYC.

A young friend who just had her first baby must continue to work because she and her husband invested in an inordinately expensive piece of real estate before the baby's birth. He's now in a different line of work and the money isn't rolling in, so she's holding down the fort. She travels 50% of the time, has hired an expensive nanny while her husband tries to establish himself, and gets to see her child on the weekends. She hates it, wants to quit, but is trapped, at least for now. Unfortunately, her baby will continue to grow and experience life for the first time and she'll miss a good part of it. Without women raising a family, we're seeing two things. The drop in the birth rate among white women and the rise of children with anti-social tendencies and poor school performance. But the fem movement would never admit to such results and would smear anyone who tried to win an argument on those points.

Thank you Steinem, Friedan and the rest of the tribe that started this destructive movement.

I needed a laugh one night so I picked up the comedy film "Anchorman" from the library starring Will Ferrell on DVD. I didn't see it coming......

This movie was pure feminist to the very core. Every male character was a retarded idiot, or severely flawed, compared with the "put-together, in-charge, go-getter" female lead character played by Christina Applegate.

Avoid, avoid, avoid. You can't even watch a comedy anymore without being bombarded with anti-White male propaganda.

At least I didn't pay for the pleasure of viewing this piece of crap.

DakotaBlue, You just described just about every couple I know here in NYC which, probably numbers about a dozen. Do we know the same people?! Or, is it just so common a scenario and the price to pay for living in the "greatest city in the world"?

xmh:

Ever notice the roles assigned to white males on TV commercials? Stupid, lazy, childish, p***y-whipped and impotent with their own kids. It's been that way for some time now, but the setup is so subltle, that like the frog in a boiling pot of water, you don't know what hit you till it's too late.

NYC used to be the greatest city in the world. Born and raised here. Live here now, but I'm a lot older than you and I can remember when it was truly the best place in the world to live and have fun, but then again, it was also 90% white. Now it's more of a conscious effort to avoid the ugliness which has overtaken what was truly splendid.
