When I lived around Dallas, I would often hear strange music coming from the cars and houses of the beaners. Im familiar with the mariachi/salsa type of spanish music, but this is different. The best way i can describe it is "aztec or inca warrior music", possibly a blending of peruvian flute tunes... I think ive heard similar music on the discovery channel when they were doing a documentary on the incas. There are no lyrics and it has a very aggressive/millitaristic undertone to it. Is anyone familiar with what im describing ?

Petr - no I dont think that is it, as there were no lyrics. However, I was not aware of this type of music you mention. Thanks.
The music i heard had lots of flutes and drums with no lyrics. Its almost as if it was a war dance type of music.

JW, I've heard a group from South America at art festivals in Dallas and Austin that play flutes and drums, all instrumental. I can not remember the name of the group. Possibly this is what you were hearing.
