4 accused of selling fake IDs

By Topher Sanders Montgomery Advertiser

Montgomery police arrested four men Thursday for allegedly producing and selling fraudulent U.S. immigration and Social Security documents, police said.

Montgomery police, with assistance from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the Internal Revenue Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, executed search warrants at 5004 Stone Pine Drive and 5008 Loblolly Pine Drive about 9:30 a.m.

Authorities arrested Christain Perez, 34; Antonio Ruiz Gaytan, 51; Oscar Hernandez Martinez, 34; and Enrique Del Pilar Ruedas, 27, [WE NEED A WETBACK MEXICAN SMILE!!!] on charges of possession and production of fraudulent material.

Perez and Gaytan live at 5008 Loblolly Pine Drive, while Martinez and Ruedas live at 5004 Stone Pine Drive.

During the search of the residences authorities found cutting boards, blank Social Security cards, laminating equipment and computers.

"We just created the Cultural Unit to develop a better relationship with the Hispanic community, however, these arrests prove that we are also holding them to the same standards as any other citizen," said Lt. Huey Thornton, a Montgomery Police Department spokesman.

Police said the men allegedly had been making the false documents for six months.

Authorities were notified of the men's operations by an anonymous tip about a month ago.

"Undercover officers were able to purchase Social Security cards and alien immigration cards from the individuals," Thornton said.

The men allegedly were selling the documents for $170. They even advertised their services, Thornton said.

Police said the arrests did not point to a larger illegal immigration problem in Montgomery.

"I don't think these arrests give a true indication of a problem in Montgomery," Thornton said. "Obviously, if they are doing this then there is a demand, but how significant is yet to be determined."

Police did not know how many documents the men had produced during their time of operation.

The case is under investigation, and more arrests might be forthcoming.

Gov. Bob Riley is devoting more manpower to combating illegal immigration. On Friday he announced Alabama would double the number of state troopers trained to arrest illegal immigrants.
These guys should be prosecuted for treason.
I volunteer to be a member of the firing squad. I know where some brick walls are, and I can get ahold of 4 blindfolds and 4 cigarettes pretty easily.

30/30 an OK round for the job?
