Kate Moss linked to potent 'special K' drug

London, September 24: Troubled British supermodel Kate Moss faced new tabloid allegations of drug abuse today, this time involving a potent livestock anaesthetic nicknamed 'special K.'

The Daily Mirror quoted a former model, who it did not identify, as claiming that she witnessed Moss, 31, snorting ketamine as well as cocaine at a late-night party in a London apartment five years ago.

"We were at a party at a lovely flat by the Thames," the model was quoted as telling the newspaper, which first published images nine days earlier of Moss apparently snorting cocaine at a London recording studio.

"Kate used a credit card to cut up the powder, then hovered hers up first. She was quite greedy. She was like a machine."

"Then she wiped her nose and started jumping around the room like a mad woman. She was going on about 'special K', saying how great it was."

Experts say ketamine, created in the 1960s for veterinary use, can cause delirium, amnesia, depression and long-term memory and cognitive problems.

For some, the effect is known as a "K-hole" or "out of body" experience.

Moss issued a statement Thursday claiming "full responsibility" for her conduct, after Swedish fashion retailer H and M and British trench coat purveyor Burberry dropped her from their advertising campaigns.

French fashion house Chanel said it would not renew its contract with Moss when it expires next month, while British cosmetics brand Rimmel - while welcoming her apology - held back from saying if it too would drop her.
