This link to the American Conservative was recently posted to the VNN Forums, but it seemed to me that even those who don't read that site might find it worthy of some interesting speculation. Note that the author (yes, I know he's kosher by ancestry) frets that in the event of severe economic stress, [I]"Members of the former middle class will be angry, resentful, and bewildered by the loss of their entitlements to the American Dream and are apt to chafe at the prospect of becoming agricultural workers. It is impossible to predict what kind of maniacs they may vote for."[/I] It doesn't take a crystal ball to see what he's worried about:
