I keep hearing that the "political fallout" of hurricane katrina will be what little progress the GOP has made convincing the negros to vote republican, is all but lost. This should even further delineate/divide politics. Hence we now see republicans trying to out-spend each other on negro giveaways. Of course, the democrats, not to be outdone are quick to say its not enough.
If anything W has helped to get identity politics off the sidelines and into the mainstream. It wont stay under the rug forever.
