In an unguarded moment, Mr Akaka admitted that his bill could lead to independence for native Hawaiians. Amid the ensuing uproar, he retreated, while carefully keeping that option open. The threat of secession could help the new racially-exclusive native authority squeeze more concessions out of the federal or state government.
And that still leaves the most amazing thing about the Akaka bill. It might pass.

Or they could be honest and make the case that they would be better off if the US had annexed Mexico City and dissolved the Mexican government.
But hey, since they think whitey is so oppresive, how 'bout we send 'em back to the Japanese; that's who would be running Hawaii if it weren't for American "Imperialism."

Polynesians in Hawaii already get extensive racial preferences, just for not being white. When is the 14th Amendment ever applied when a white or male is being discriminated against?

let them go, cut them off. it is a truly socialist state anyway. start the civil war there, alternately.
it isnt like having "control" of "how are ya" has kept the chicoms from infiltrating kali (long beach) or the panama canal, now, has it? or seattle etc?
