Guess I have a certain responsibility for this, as I seem to have provoked a row with Stormfront's moderators in this thread [URL=http://www.originaldissent.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17820]Stormfront Moderation Policies[/URL]. Reading through the thread it is obvious that OD's link at SF was a "topic of interest" to the subject moderators, who as Don Black cryptically notes all give a great deal to Stormfront. They hadn't taken down the link, but I figure it was Don Black's persnickitiness. The moderators at Stormfront still won't let me post at Stormfront, so I figured it was just a matter of time.
I'd made the posts at SF sort of because I wanted to test the waters so to speak. In the past conservatives do seem to have been tolerated by Nazi's, but only if they keep their mouths shut and don't criticize them. I don't thnk that's a fruitful basis for a long-term, productive relationship. The OD link at SF gets us attention, and not all of the right kind. I do feel having them have us as a link was certainly a negative factor when asking paleo and conservative sites to link to us. It suggests we must do something to incur their favor, and as we see here Nazi's are not shy about demanding the [I]quid pro[/I].
I think quite probably Don Black featured us because he was looking for some general endorsement of the viability of national conservatism, and not just Hitlerite orthodoxy. But we can see how tenuous that alliance is. After this board and Liberty Forum it is quite difficult putting up with very heavy handed moderation policies. Of course our policies lately have become quite strong also compared wth what they were in the past. Part of it of course is simply we know that certain types of remarks, even made in honestly in good faith, are going to provoke a row, which we don't want to take the trouble to sort out. Accordingly posting both here and at SF has taken the turn as essentially joining a club. Newbies are just not allowed to post on sensitive topics, or they are ostracized. I guess I can be as fallible joining a club as anybody. Of course its not easy sometimes to detect the inner workings and rules of clubs. Sometimes you just have to say what you think, and see how it goes over. At least that saves you a lot of time.
All in all though, I am not sure what all that means for us, if anything. If we ever got any members from SF via the link it seemed to be disgruntled SF types like Otto, whose utility was somewhat marginal at best. The inner working and logic of conservatism clearly are not terribly self-evident or natural to SF types. Just as the inner workings of Nazi politics aren't too evident or natural to us conservative types. I say Nazi because clearly we can see all the moderators of SF are pretty much hard-core Nazi types, except John-Joy Tree and the theology section moderators.
Anyway, just thought I'd feel you in, on what I think is an event of some significance on forums with a fairly large amount of carry, which we don't get too often here at OD really.

Speaking for myself, I wouldn't sweat it. Todd offered to link to us when he wrote me to complain about Bardanu asking him if he was a pedeophile. That was before I looked at that thread. I don't think the offer is good anymore, nor do I think we could afford the quid pro quo.
I have to disagree with your comment on heavy handedness. Some of these folks simply wish to push the evelope. Incidently, I made an effort to sort out the mess on that thread on the Titanic and in private with Todd and we can see the results.

But you can compare our posting policies today with those in the past, when we tolerated the like of rban. I doubt we'd tolerate rban today more than 5 posts. Not without good reason of course.
Thanks BTW for dealing with Todd. I know its not an easy task, which is why we avoid it as much as possible, but he's one of those people who if you can placate him a little, which you sometimes can, its worth something.

I'm afraid... that I have failed with Todd. :sad: Right now, he is madder than a wet hen at me. Not that I care, in the past I have placated him within reason. Unfortunately, he would act as if he were running things here. That gets old and in the case of that thread, once I saw Bardamu's comment in context I dealt with it the way it deserved. Hell, the dumbass went ahead and reposted the same post that had folks asking him about being a pedeophile, for crying out loud. Oh well, he won't like my latest post either. :furious: I don't care for the "**** you" he sent me.
Ah, how I wish these guys would think about what they are posting and the enviroment it is going in...

Yes. Nonsense I don't mind at all, but nonsense of a sexual nature I have very low tolerance for. He can take it to Fade's Phora now that he has it back up.

Seriously, I am personally curious as to what they're saying about me/us. Especially, since I personally have been the target of SF moderator talk I know. If you could just copy and paste the thread and PM it to me I'd appreciate it. And see if its anything important worth sharing. If it is, I'll figure out how to do so while protecting your identity.
First priority perhaps is to delete this thread, or at least move it to the members only section, if its important enough you need to do so. They do check over here from time to time. I asked Hugh, but I haven't heard back. He probably realized he'd divulged some priviledged info he really wasn't supposed to.

Stormfront sure seems like a big nasty bed of intrigue to me. It sure would be interesting to know what they're saying about us, but I don't know what it would come to. Right now I get the impression underneath the superficial positiveness they're people like Spiderman, Wintermute, AntiYuppie, and MadRussian, with these guys basic intellectual sophistication and refinement.
I haven't tested the waters over there hardly at all, but just sticking my toe in it seemed awfully cold. I think the fact that those 4 above still stick with our forum, in spite of their feelings they've expressed, or Fade with his weirdness and flakiness, and avoid the Stormfronters says an awful lot.
