National Vanguard News Org. has a cute story about Pennsylvania Dutch hex signs and folklore.
Although, I know for a fact that the opinion that the PA Dutch hex signs have some connection to ancient European heathen practices is wrong! It's still fun.
The hex signs are rooted in the American experience;my take is that they were used originally to scare the indians and the yankees(English) away from Pennsylvania Dutch barns and property. Also, the Pennsylvania Dutch folklore remedies, are of biblical origin or Christian symbolism.
Just so you know, prior to that megalomaniac drug addict Hitler, some Pennsylvania Dutch hex signs employed the swastika as a universal symbol of good luck. :hitler:
