The president said U.S. troops in Iraq are keeping Americans safe and that Iraqis are making progress toward democracy. He urged patience as officials in Baghdad struggle to complete a constitution.
That is logically fallacious. "A tornado has never hit my house, therefore having a dog in my back yard is good tornado prevention. Buy a dog." Same logical structure.
The soldiers over there may be doing some good for some folks in Iraq, namely the Kurds, perhaps some Shiites and a few of the Sunnis, but they are doing some harm to America, at least in the near term, simply by being there.
The war is significantly increasing our national debt, is still having profound negative image and political influence, and gives any number of Arab arseholes a free recruiting poster to attract malcontents of many stripes.
My conclusion? It is believed by the administration that if one repeats the same words over and over again, they will become the truth?
Hey, wait a minute, maybe I need to try that.
I will win the Lottery, I will win the Lottery, I will win the Lottery . . .
I will let you know if it works out.
The president said U.S. troops in Iraq are keeping Americans safe
I wonder if many are actually stupid enough to continue to believe that old tired line.
