Spanish Set to Become Official Language of Seven Denver Public Library Branches

In a sharp break from American tradition, the Denver Public Library is promoting a plan that would make seven of its branches ââ¬ÅSpanish focused,ââ¬Â banishing English language books to the backroom. The ââ¬ÅLanguages and Learningââ¬Â plan would dramatically increase Spanish language offerings and staff, designating some locations as Spanish dominant. The proposal is currently under review by the Library Commission and an advisory board.
ââ¬ÅDenverââ¬â¢s action is a dubious first in American history: a major U.S. city is creating a public institution that intentionally excludes native-born Americans,ââ¬Â explained Mauro E. Mujica, Chairman of the Board of U.S. English, Inc. ââ¬ÅThis action goes against the model of assimilation that has successfully served the United States for centuries.ââ¬Â
ââ¬ÅIn a nation of immigrants, focusing on a single non-English language is the type of favoritism that we should have abandoned years ago. The taxpayers of Denverââ¬âresidents who speak 68 languagesââ¬âshould not stand idly by while their money goes to support immigrants from El Salvador or Colombia over immigrants from Vietnam or Egypt.ââ¬Â
Library officials counter that the switch to Spanish dominant libraries is an extension of the institutionââ¬â¢s purpose. They claim that the Languages and Learning plan will assist Spanish speaking residents in becoming members of their community. Proponents call the plan ââ¬Åcutting edgeââ¬Â and ââ¬Årevolutionary.ââ¬Â
ââ¬ÅI fail to see how an ââ¬ËOfficial Spanishââ¬â¢ Library will aid immigrants in learning English and becoming Americans,ââ¬Â Mujica continued. ââ¬ÅIf anything, it will further the notion that Spanish-speaking immigrants can live in relative comfort without needing to learn our common language. If we are to successfully continue as a nation of immigrants, we cannot send an ââ¬ËEnglish Optionalââ¬â¢ message to any immigrant group.ââ¬Â

Would this be considered an obscenity or what?
I think Colorado and specifically, Denver residents, should DEMAND the immediate firing on grounds of gross incompetence, the person responsible for this harebrained idea.
This is America and the OFFICIAL LANGUAGE has to be and always has been English. For the library to become "Spanish focused" simply provides yet another excuse for stupid, lazy and/or unmotivated Hispanics not to develop proficiency in the language and customs of their adopted country. There IS NO JUSTIFICATION, WHATSOEVER, to indulge ourselves in the insanity of having two languages. Even the thought of Spanish as a second language, as opposed to any OTHER language is both an insult to other Americans of foreign extraction and tantamount to RACISM in that it favors one minority group over another. A person with even a modicum of common sense is aware the most prevalent "second language" on a worldwide basis is English. Virtually every reasoanbly intelligent European can claim some comprehension of English. Ditto for Asian and Pacific Rim countries. English being used for business and technology purposes in almost every corner of the world. If our unwelcome free-loading guests from Mexico and points south are unwilling to learn, there's only one answer.

I know the reason many anti-Americans in this country welcome illegal aliens, but why are libraries putting out the welcome mat? Libraries don't stand to make any money, garner any votes, donate to the collection plate, have them pick tomatoes, or any other reason given for excusing criminals. Something here I'm not getting. If anyone knows why the Denver libraries are rolling out the red carpet, please let me in on it.

Now we are relegated to the "back" room? Next will be the back of the bus. Where in the h..l is the fighting spirit of White people? Our ancestors would never put up with the 3rd world peoples telling US what to do, or for that matter, allow any of them into our country to begin with! This is getting worse and worse,folks. The ball is in our court.

I think AR posted a news article that said Mexicans have some sort of aversion to reading. Something to the effect of book stores in Mexico city go out of business because no one buys books. Now, we have libraries catering to non-existent hispanic readers. Wow, what a great idea.

All public funding to this library system should cease.
If their focus is away from providing service for a specific non-English speaking demographic then funding should come exclusively from the group that benefits, which is not the general public.

One advantage to this will be the very quiet place you will have since sure as hell nobody will be IN these libraries....
Maybe they will have books on how to start a meth lab. How to change the plugs on a leaf blower. How to install hydraulics on a Chevy and how to up your W.I.C./food stamps/Earned income tax credit......
For those of us who see a violent outcome to all this, let me assure you that the more insane, sick, and distorted our society becomes, the more insane, sick and distorted the correcting violence will be.
When a "people" can not discuss a problem, when they can not change a problem by peaceful means, the problem does not go away but only gets worse and the time comes that the only solution to stop the over-powering problem is violence (that is the reason for war and is why war works) and the violence has to be far worse than it would have been earlier had you been able to discuss the problem.
Those of you PC who want peace will end up with war. I am ready, are you?

The die is cast: America is finished.
Yet two questions remain:
What will appear in the place of the U.S.?
What will become of the white sellouts who betrayed the heritage bequeathed them by our Founders once the nation is dead and they're scarmbling for safe (white) place to live?

There will be less traffic to the libraries for books because Hispanics don't read. They may go there for videos, DVD's, and CD's, whose volume will be cranked up at the highest decibal setting every night after midnight to drive their white neighbors away.
