Video for the song "Wake Me When September Ends" is a little mini-movie and very powerful, in a poignant sort of way. It almost made me tear up, but it's pretty awesome. Nice song. Originally written about the death of Billy Joe's father, the lyrics translate perfectly for expressing the agony of what's happening in thousands of American families (mostly White) due to the Iraq war.

I'm sorry x, but I gotta part ways with you on this one.
Green Day singing against the war almost makes me support it. Their anti-"redneck agenda" (read pro-homo and cultural degeneracy) just rubs me the wrong way.
I'll not rant further. :)

I totally understand Tex. Me personally, I don't hold their liberal attitudes against liking their tunes. Also, I like seeing a prominent musical group take on an issue like the grievous Iraq war, it's consequences and how it affects people, and hopefully impacts some of Green Day's target youth audience.
You'll notice the kid in the video comes from the cornfields of middle America somewhere and not some high fallutin' urban area like NYC, LA, or SanFran.

I really didn't git the anti-War part of the video--certainly not in the lyrics, and even the flick itself is as much about him doing what he thought she would understand. This doesn't seem as much against the illegal and un-Just Iraq War, or any of the others since 1945 the Empire has waged, as it does the tragedy of Young Love with the War as backdrop. Certainly it is not in the league of:
Feel Like I'm Fixing To Die Rag (Next Stop Vietnam) Country Joe & the Fish
