For an interesting parallel, compare 30s and 40s Pound with William Langland.

Pound was a great man. He was probably the greatest poet of his time in English. He was so good, many honest and semi-honest Leftists refused to deny his talent. Let it not be forgotten that Pound was also a very kind man, always willing to help a fellow writer down on his luck.

That is hard to determine. And if anyone doubts that, bring up the topic with any devotee of Yeats or Eliot.
He was so good, many honest and semi-honest Leftists refused to deny his talent.
That is true, though I fear some will overstate certain aspects of career. A lot of people who share his political sympathies may be overlooking his early aestheticism or the humour that permeates a great deal of his work.

Yeah, I would think TS Eliot comes close to Pound in greatness. Both were great. I seem to remember that they were both pals.

I just order the ABC of Reading. Lets see if I understand it this time around. I have a problem understanding modern poetry.
