Stories like this put the lie to the old canard that 'education' is the answer to outsourcing. A great deal of the jobs being outsourced require advanced degrees, and most of the new jobs being created require little education and are in non-tradeable services and the public sector. Paul Craig Roberts has done a good job documenting this.

Even if there is a grain of truth in the idea that you could "retrain" yourself once your job was sent overseas, by the time you complete your retraining, the jobs you trained for have all been outsourced. Time to start retraining again! Repeat until you die or end up living in a cardboard box.

Traffic is getting worse again in the Bay Area, after being lighter during the downturn. If the tech is downsizing/outsourcing, it must be all those other areas then doing hiring

madrussian - if they are not laying off anymore in the IT industry in your area, companies will continue to bring in as many h1b visas as they can get their hands on.

If the jobs cannot be "oursourse" to their country then they will bring their people to this country in order to do the job here at a cheaper price.
madrussian - if they are not laying off anymore in the IT industry in your area, companies will continue to bring in as many h1b visas as they can get their hands on.
The replacement process has already finished. Americans should be able to sue companies now as representatives of a minority.
