I try to connect to a site I'm trying to view using "the-cloak" when I type the URL in however for a long time I get
http://www.the-cloak.com/bounce-form-accept
in address box, but nothing ever happens. Eventually I get
Error retrieving remote page
Error retrieving remote page http://www.xxxxxx.xxx/
Error type: ERROR-OPENING-SOCKET
I just wonder, do you think the site's using IP checking or something else like that, blocking certain types of IP's (like from "the cloak"). Anyone familiar with this?
Check out the FAQ page at the-cloak, if you are trying to go to a site that has an applet or something like it then it won't work.
You mean this section?
- it cannot proxy ftp pages.
it cannot proxy pages that contain certain types of active content that bypasses the HTTP protocol. For example:
Java applets that connect directly to the server, like
-- chat applets.
-- certain types of streaming multimedia that work with their own network protocols (though these might be configured to use HTTP).
Some pages that use complex Javascript that we cannot rewrite successfully.
Some pages that contain broken HTML.
It seems to me if this were the case, certain pages on a site might be inaccessible, but not the whole site, like I'm getting.
