I remember Brother Stair when I used to listen to short-wave in the late 90's before the internet really took off. I recall Bill Cooper used to get annoyed because Brother Stair had 24 hours continuous broadcasting on WWCR.

I checked my short-wave not long ago and although Cooper was shot, Stair is still broadcasting.

Can you get anything interesting on short-wave in the continental US?

There are some foreign languages that can be heard, but I mainly listened to the WWCR family of stations. The WWCR broadcasts were usually pretty interesting and they came in very well on the east coast of the USA. I took the little short-wave (a Grundig Yacht Boy 400) to Colorado and Washington and it didn't pick up that well there in the west. Back in the late 90's, a lot of the short-wave hosts pretty much bought into the whole Y2K thing and were suggesting stocking up on water and grains, gold and ammunition. They generally stopped broadcasting when nothing happened.

David J. Smith, a former member of the Worldwide Church of God under controversial founder Herbert W. Armstrong and editor of Newswatch Magazine, was always interesting in tying in current events with Bible prophecy.
