Has anybody here heard of this? I just discovered this website, and I am really enjoying it so far. Their whole methodology is built around the concept of general fitness, instead of specialization, as most programs are. I lifted weights for many years, and had good strength, but I never realized how poor my stamina and endurance were in comparison. At the very least, it provides you with a different, challenging workout everyday, which is great, since avoiding monotony is they key to maintaining an exercise regimen. Thanks Q. I might just incorporate some aspects of crossfit into my current regiment....which is basically, walking, running and some weightlifting as well as avoiding sugars as much as humanly possible.

I like it because it seems to be composed of high-intensity workouts. I've tried everything and high-intensity is the way. Long-duration, easy-pace jogging, cycling, swimming, eliptical, etc. will only get you so far.

I've joined my little brother in his off-season workouts for college football. He's a running back/receiver. High weights/low reps... explosive movements, plyometrics, wind sprints, stadium stairs all at max effort. I spend less time in the gym and get faster results. In soccer, I run rings around guys 10 years my junior.

I don't know how old you are, but of course the downside is that it's best suited for the relitively young, else you may hurt yourself.

Yes it is a great site, the articles by Coach Sommer got me into gymnastic exercises and if you read alot of the do it yourself building your own workout tools you can save alot of money, I just saved myself around a hundred dollars from one of there threads.:taz:

I know you were joking, Tex, but actually, I don't think there is anything unhealthy about beer. It is certainly healthier than Coke. As long as you lead an active life, bottoms up!

I read a study that indicated that if you do only long-duration stuff, like jogging, that it will only improve your body's capacity for long-duration exercise, whereas if you do high intensity intervals, it improves your body's capacity for both high intensity and long-duration exercise.

They should ease into it by lowering weights and/or reps, taking longer rest periods, and taking more days off.
Thanks Q. I'm really sold on the idea of mixing it up -- running, throwing, jumping, lifting weights, doing bodyweight exercises. In fact, this quote I saw on Little Geneva fits in well with this idea --

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, con a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyse a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects." ~ Robert Heinlein
