Its said that when you are dreaming you are not really resting. Also, that if you are dreaming of flying then you are the most at peace and unstressed.
The case is neither with me. About 2 or 3 times a year i have dreams that i can not explain, at least not (possibly) untill i uncovered recent photos of my ancestors dating back to the turn of the 20th century and before. In these dreams were scenes of old dogs, front porches, gentile old women. In all, i was a youngster and their were always several large dogs around. Nothing much more than that. In all the dreams there are gathering rain clouds and im constantly looking over my shoulder trying to do things before the rain gets there.
Until lately i thought maybe these were images of my very early youth, playing in the front yard of my great grandpa in rural oklahoma. However, there were things that just didnt seem the same. Its the images i have of the front porch that makes me think they are images of the homes of my ancestors in Mississippi from the mid to late 1800's that im seeing.
Maybe, perhaps, just an over-active immagination...

my sleepin' dreams be of women i've never had and my waking Dream is of my Mistress, DIXIE...
