ââ¬ÅPolitical scientists have long held that people's upbringing and experience determine their political views. A child raised on peace protests and Bush-loathing generally tracks left as an adult, unless derailed by some powerful life experience. One reared on tax protests and a hatred of Kennedys usually lists to the right.
ââ¬ÅA mismatch between an inherited social orientation and a given party may also explain why some people defect from a party. Many people who are genetically conservative may be brought up as Democrats, and some who are genetically more progressive may be raised as Republicans, the researchers say.
ââ¬ÅThe idea that certain social issues produce immediate unthinking reactions comes through in other political research as well. In several recent studies, Dr. Milton Lodge of the State University of New York at Stony Brook
has shown that certain names and political concepts - "taxes" or "Clinton," for example - produce almost instantaneous positive or negative reactions. These intensely charged political reflexes are shaped partly by inheritance, Dr. Lodge said.
ââ¬ÅIt may be the clash of visceral, genetically primed social orientations that gives political debate its current malice and fire, the study suggests. Although the two broad genetic types, more conservative and more
progressive, may find some common ground on specific issues, they represent fundamental differences that go deeper than many people assume, the new research suggests.
ââ¬Å"When people talk about the political debate becoming increasingly ugly, they often blame talk radio or the people doing the debating, but they've got it backward," Dr. Alford said. "These genetically predisposed ideologies are polarized, and that's what makes the debate so nasty.
ââ¬Å"You see it in people's eyes when they talk politics. You can hear it their voices. After about the third response, we all start sounding like talk radio on some issues."
ââ¬ÅThe researchers are not optimistic about the future of bipartisan cooperation or national unity. Because men and women tend to seek mates with a similar ideology, they say, the two gene pools are becoming, if anything, more concentrated, not less.ââ¬Â

The fallacy, of course, is to take what signs, with learned meanings, communicate as hot-button arousers in this particular social /cultural context get their impact from sub-cellular DNA response. Utter revulsion at cellular levels may indeed be experienced, when the chimp or fellow kuwalas do their dances on TV, but it is pure phobia, and partly self-indulged, though surely articulated with what it is to be who I am from where I was raised. politics correctly; its error - and this is the metaphysical deficit - is to assume that the anatomical preparation, jammed into the situation by their abuse, is responsible for it. (Yes, I said abuse - theirs is the classic abused - abusers cycle, determined to make the youth pay for their own guilt for Vietnam war "sin", which was not beheading the system that was beheading them. So they deserve what some in Iraq have managed to bring on themselves, and know it, but because of the deficit, have no metaphysical recourse except to "blame the genes".

Comment: same fallacy - to transfer what "researchers", and "reporters" have linked together in their baby-boomer way, as if the pictures in the brain-scan show brain-cells "recognizing" them. If they say its hard-wired for Hallie and Jennifer, by God, whom am I to argue? Being baby bomber means never having to take responsibility for any reaction one chooses to disown; that's for the genetic code and God Our Father to set up.

Here, folks, is where they better put that genetic oar in the water and pull hard. This goes to Jewish v. Christian metaphysics, and the politics of phobia. .
Certainly, there is such a thing as Christophobia, on the part of some Jews, but not all - though more Jewish brain cells no doubt started going off after Gibson's soft sado-flick on Jesus. This hatred of Christianity is admitted by Phyllis Chesler, Abe Foxman, others, and I understand it fully, reserving right to define the corruptions anyone would have to hate. And it is matched by Judeophobia among some Christians, misleadingly labeled "anti-Semitism" when it is pre-convulsive hatred of
the Jews, as a debilitating condition. I understand that too (better than the other). The patterns of nerve-cells spontaneously emerging in these thankfully not-(yet)-chronic states are historical; Hegelian, even. A dialectic of spirit v blood as bond to the eternal plays itself out in history through these modes of being. If it is Darwinian, credence is bestowed on Kevin Mac Donald's massive scholarly work documenting that Jewishness is something they all know about each other but nobody else does, and creates invisible but very real rings around things. If the Ashkenazi Superiority Gene kicks in, who knows? That is the indominatable Form the great German Idealist philosopher left us to ponder, having answered it for himself.
