PHILADELPHIA, Mississippi (CNN) -- A Mississippi judge Thursday sentenced former Ku Klux Klansman Edgar Ray Killen to 60 years in prison for the manslaughter of three civil rights workers in 1964.
Killen, 80, was convicted on three counts of manslaughter Tuesday, 41 years to the day a Klan mob ambushed and killed the civil rights workers -- James Chaney, 21; Andrew Goodman, 20; and Michael Schwerner, 24.
Circuit Court Judge Marcus Gordon said Thursday that he took no pleasure in pronouncing the sentence of three consecutive 20-year terms, the maximum allowed under law.
Before announcing his decision, Gordon said, "You have to remember that I have a job to do, and I have to pass upon a sentence to a person who's 80-years-old."
The judge said he knew some would disagree with his decision which, at Killen's age, amounts to a life sentence in prison. But Gordon said each of the dead men's lives had equal value, and the law does not adjust sentences for a defendant's age.
"The law does not make a distinction," Gordon said. "Should a person 20 years old receive a more severe sentence than a person 80 years old? If so, why?"
After Gordon pronounced sentence, he offered the lawyers an opportunity to ask questions. They declined.
Killen left the courtroom without speaking.
**Prosecutor: Confession coming**
Defense attorney James McIntyre has said he will appeal the convictions, The Associated Press reported. Gordon will hear a motion for a new trial on Monday, the AP reported.
Killen had faced first degree murder charges but the prosecution allowed the jury to consider the lesser charge of manslaughter in its deliberations.
On Tuesday, a jury of nine white people and three black people decided on the manslaughter convictions after several hours of deliberations. ([url="http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/06/22/mississippi.killings.ap/index.html"]Jury deliberations[/url])
After the sentencing, McIntyre restated his intent to seek a new trial because a grand jury indicted Killen for murder, but jurors found the part-time preacher guilty of manslaughter.
"We came to court prepared for murder (charges). They did not prove that burden," he said.
McIntyre said he would also ask the court to release Killen on bond pending an appeal in the case, citing the man's poor health.
McIntyre said he was "not surprised" about the judge's sentence and added that he has great respect for Gordon.
Mississippi Attorney General James Hood said after the sentencing that he was pleased with the outcome and "happy that we've got this case over with."
He said that someday Killen would confess to playing a role in the killings.
"He's had his freedom for 41 years, and now that's taken from him," Hood said outside the courthouse. " But sometime he's going to have to admit his crime to get into heaven."
**About the case**
The "Freedom Summer" killings helped galvanize the civil rights movement, leading to major reforms in access to voting, education and public accommodations.
On June 21, 1964, Chaney, Goodman and Schwerner were on their way to investigate the burning of a black church when they were briefly taken into custody for speeding.
After they were released from the county jail in Philadelphia, a KKK mob tailed their car, forced it off the road and shot them to death. Their bodies were found 44 days later buried in an earthen dam -- in a trench dug in anticipation of the killings, according to testimony.
In a 1967 federal trial, an all-white jury deadlocked 11-1 in favor of convicting Killen. The holdout said she could not vote to convict a preacher.
Seven other men were convicted of conspiring to violate the civil rights of the victims, namely their right to live. None served more than six years in prison. At the time, no federal murder statutes existed, and the state never brought charges.

This area of Mississippi is where many of my folks are from, and many distant relatives still remain. Nowdays you could get whiplash trying to figure out what the more serious problems are, negros, the jews that get them worked up, or hordes of mexicans driving like wild, with no insurance, invading towns and running down neighborhoods.

"Hmm", says I, the headline says he was convicted yet the article says he was cleared. "What", I asked myself, is the joozmedia up to now?"
To understand what actually went on in this "trial", one must understand a couple of things about courts and legal proceedure. An Attorney General, or a local D.A., can seek either a murder conviction or a manslaughter conviction, but he cannot do both at the same time. If a D.A. filed both charges at the same time, one would void the other. If the defendent is guilty of murder, then he is not guilty of manslaughter. If the defendent is guilty of manslaughter, then he is not guilty of murder. Therefore, the prosecution must file a charge for either murder or manslaughter, but not both of them at the same time.
In a murder trial, the prosecution must prove willful intent on the part of the defendent. In a manslaughter trial, the prosecution has only to show that the defendent caused the death of someone while committing a crime. In the case of Killen, the charge against him was murder. The prosecution failed to prove their case and lost. Killen should have rolled out of the courtroom a free man.
However, after the trial was over and the prosecution and the defense had rested, the Judge, under the guise of "jury instructions", advised the jury that if they could not find Killen guilty of murder as charged, they could find him guilty of manslaughter. Such an advisement is as absurd as it is preposterous. The Judge could just as well have told the jury they could consider finding Killen guilty of stealing the Mona Lisa. Killen was not charged with manslaughter. By advising the jury that they could find Killen guilty of manslaughter, the Judge ignored the fact that Killen was not charged with manslaughter and that therefore no evidence had been presented to show Killen was guilty of such a charge, and also that the defense had not had the opportunity to present any argumentation to refute any such charge. The manslaughter conviction is thus both a sham and a farce. It essentially denied Killen the right of trial for that particular charge.
As for the anti-white commentary which comprised most of the article, the media might want to consider how their repeated accusation of "racism", which the press associated with this event, squares with the fact that two of the three men killed were white.
On the third page of the lengthy news/commentary article, one little sentence stated that Killen's defense attorney will appeal on the grounds that the jury should not have been allowed to consider the manslaughter charges. It is quite clear that Killen should win his appeal. The article gave no explanation as to the significance of this announcement because the writer of the article was too busy drowning the reader with joyous eulogy and exclamations of victory over what the media perceives as "evil white racism" and the South's "sordid past". But while the mainstream press is drowning itself in its own racism and bigotry, perhaps justice will be had at the appeals hearing, as is so often the case."

For killing Schwerner, Goodman and Chaney, they ought to have given the guy a medal.
My wife is having a difficult time dealing with the fact that this is my opinion on this matter, but I refuse to budge. Worthless Bolshevist agitators got less than they deserved. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I enjoy watching "Mississippi Burning" and rooting for the other side.

The just and moral slayings of the three miscreants were motivated by a righteous desire to maintain White Supremacy in the sovereign State of Mississippi, so to say they had nothing to do with White racialism is a little disingenuous. It is so strange that CNN just the other night was celebrating a Black by the name of Clarence who had escaped a lynching. His two Black friends had just raped a White woman who had parked in her car with her White boyfriend enjoying the evening. The Blacks then robbed and murdered them both. However, at some point in the course of the bloody events, Clarence had decided to walk away from the scene and not participate in the bloodshed. The two murderers were executed by the angry mob in the so-called "lynching," but Clarence survived and is now a CNN hero. It seems like the only difference between the two crimes is that the Black guy involved in some murders is celebrated and the White guy involved in some murders is demonized.

How can this nigger possibly be seen as a hero just because he walked away rather then participating? Did he do a damn thing to help the victims? Did he even bother to call the police?
Just the fact that they would label something like that a "lynching" which all the stupid sheeple automatically associate with "innocent" blacks getting killed, says a lot.

I was watching the news this morning here in Spain and what Gabrielle posted was nowhere to be seen. He was just a murderer that got hunted down like so many other old folk who get thrown in prison over here for having worked as some Camp guard.
Just the other day while still at the Phora another member posted that story about the black horde (500 people) that invaded some trendy portuguese beach to rob everyone in sight only to get fought back by scores of policemen after a while. I could not find those news anywhere here in Spain and Portugal is our damn neighbor. Only the next day I could find some censored story about "youth gangs from poor neighborhoods" having done this.
The Jewish media knows its work good by now.

The mass attack on a popular beach was unprecedented Some 500 youths, mainly teenagers, have raided a popular beach near Lisbon spreading panic among beachgoers and mugging a large number of people. Carcavelos beach, 15km (10 miles) west of the Portuguese capital, was crowded on Friday because the country was celebrating a national holiday.
Policemen in riot gear were confronted by gangs and struggled to restore calm, making four arrests.
The attackers are believed to come from some of the capital's poorest suburbs.
"Small groups of youngsters aged 12 to 20 assembled and robbed en masse those they found on the beach," a local cafe owner, Helder Gabriel, told AFP news agency.
A small number of police officers from the nearby town of Cascais initially tried to disperse the mob, but were forced to call reinforcements because the gangs were refusing to leave the beach.
Five people, including two police officers, suffered minor injuries.
Cascais municipal authorities believe the youngsters came from poorer suburbs of the capital.

There's one thing, whether your dateline is Jackson or Lisbon, that now makes the whole white world kin: packing up and moving somewhere where it's safe/sane is no longer an option. Even if there was an unspoiled, ZOGfree square mile to be found, it's only a matter of time, in this small-and-getting-smaller-by-the-minute world, before the media would slap a red flag on it. Celebrities and zillionaires are, of course, entitled to dwell in one electrified-fence White Paradise or another....it's only meet and proper. (Even black celebs/zills are expected to find all-white enclaves to pitch their tents on.) But God help us if a community of working-class white families found and fortify a community free of Jamaals, Pablos and Shmuels.....the headlines would write themselves: "RACISM ALIVE AND WELL IN (fill in name of area)"; "THE QUIET SUBURB THAT HATE CALLS HOME"; "PICTURESQUE FACADE MASKS BIGOTRY AND INTOLERANCE"; and that old standby, "NAZI GRAFFITI MARS SLEEPY COMMUNITY - [I]Cops, Feds point to organized hate groups*".
Sooner rather than later, organized violence is going to be the only option left to whites who won't be talked into handing over the keys and registration to an animalistic underclass eager to destroy them. Mississippi, circa 1964 or so, was part of a war zone. Killing enemy combatants in a war zone isn't murder.

As third-class humans, they should be grateful for second-class citizenship in what was a first-class nation (but no longer is, largely thanks to their degradation of it). From a purely objective point of view, I'm not sure it doesn't make perfectly rational sense (outside the context of contemporary law enforcement realities) to just assume any Black male ages 12-30 (or thereabouts) is a dangerous and hostile predator, and to simply open fire immediately upon making visual contact, as a sincere matter of self-defense, and the defense of one's family, home & property, and the larger community.

No, for what I said was not entirely accurate. It would have been bettter if I'd said we are so often assailed and under hostile pressure from the youngish American Black male thug-type segment of the population, that such extreme measures can often FEEL reasonable. In reality, I was in a somewhat grandiose, hyperbolic mood (as I am somewhat prone to at times, due to my bipolar disorder, for which I prefer not to make psych meds, but rather just deal with as part of the burden of being me) when I typed that, and thus went a little overboard; after all, the whole idea of resettling Blacks to Africa or whatnot is predicated on the existence of a responsible leadership caste within the Black community, and it would be most counterproductive to kill, transform into enemies, or otherwise neutralize the effectiveness of any of that sub-section of the American Black community. But there's just no getting around the fact that the hostility we White men face from so many Black men does tend to generate a hostile, largely psychological (which is to say, not generally expressed outwardly, yet never-the-less an often rapidly growing part of the persona) backlash that could turn quite brutal during a tumultuous period of history (as we are about to enter), so in that sense what I wrote was instructive, despite being rather excessive. Black rage will eventually give way to White rage, and its best for all concerned if our rage gets channeled into more productive directions than Black rage has been.
I don't want to commit genocide against Blacks, but sometimes they piss me off so much that I briefly forget that I don't want to do that. I'm sure there are a solid 15-20 million, or more, American Blacks who are quite decent people worthy of some respect, but those aren't the ones which generate my principal emotional reactions towards that community. I hope that clears things up a bit.

The Jackson newspaper, and to a lesser extent the local Neshoba County newspaper are the ones responsible for the persecution and prosecution of this old minister.
