Portugal youths in beach rampage
The mass attack on a popular beach was unprecedented Some 500 youths, mainly teenagers, have raided a popular beach near Lisbon spreading panic among beachgoers and mugging a large number of people. Carcavelos beach, 15km (10 miles) west of the Portuguese capital, was crowded on Friday because the country was celebrating a national holiday.
Policemen in riot gear were confronted by gangs and struggled to restore calm, making four arrests.
The attackers are believed to come from some of the capital's poorest suburbs.
"Small groups of youngsters aged 12 to 20 assembled and robbed en masse those they found on the beach," a local cafe owner, Helder Gabriel, told AFP news agency.
A small number of police officers from the nearby town of Cascais initially tried to disperse the mob, but were forced to call reinforcements because the gangs were refusing to leave the beach.
Five people, including two police officers, suffered minor injuries.
Cascais municipal authorities believe the youngsters came from poorer suburbs of the capital.

A tactic use by the kids (8-12 years) in Peru and Colombia is for the smaller kids to go to a turist in order to beg for money and while the the turist is distracted with the kid the rest of the gang (up to 20 of them) surounds the target and then all at once they jump on him.
To the natives that's supposed to be a big joke.

The latter would accomplish excellent deterrence, if they were left to rot somewhere between the civilized and them. Blacks rampage like that because they know that there will be no consequences. They're not completely uncontrollable, however. They respond with alarming efficiency to the clearly communicated message that if you do that to whites, you will die. Funny line from the (neocon) but still interesting new book "Freakonomics." Jewishy authors admit, lynchings weren't all that common at many points of American history. Why not?
