Here's Bush speaking on why it's absurd that US personnel would torture prisoners. I guess it doesn't matter to him that we've all seen photos of it happening and have heard from military and civilian whistle-blowers. Or maybe he thinks everyone else's memory is as poor as his?

I'm aware of the Amnesty International report, and it's absurd. It's an absurd allegation. The United States is a country that is -- promotes freedom around the world. When there's accusations made about certain actions by our people, they're fully investigated in a transparent way. It's just an absurd allegation.

In terms of the detainees, we've had thousands of people detained. We've investigated every single complaint against the detainees. It seemed like to me they based some of their decisions on the word of -- and the allegations -- by people who were held in detention, people who hate America, people that had been trained in some instances to disassemble -- that means not tell the truth. And so it was an absurd report. It just is. And, you know -- yes, sir. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/05/20050531.html

Thanks for the education, Mr. Bush, but I might've used the word "dissemble" instead. (No, the above isn't a typo; I clearly heard Bush screw this up on the Jew box.)

I find it both amusing and frightening that the so-called "free world" is led by a man who has trouble speaking his own native language.

Dubya is dyslexic, runs on both sides of his family. He's also pickled his brain long ago with alcohol and cocaine. Periodically now he is on Xanax and God knows what else to "stabilize" him. The real brains and capo is Darth Vader - Dick Cheney. And the real problem is the cabal that controls Cheney. We shouldn't get distracted with the chimp sideshow.

I agree. It's comedy and tragedy. Shakespeare would have a field day, were he alive to see and hear George W Bush today.

And here I thought that Dubya's lack of critical thinking skills was due to prolong exposure to Sean Hannity. SG, I agree. The sock puppet isn't worth paying attention to. A person would be better served simplyby reading the Wall Street Journal and the Weekly Standard to figure out what they'll do next.

Junior compares not to any major Shakespearian figure. He might be a flabby Venetian merchant in Otello.

With Plutocracy and the rule by aliens and Secret Societies mediocrity is the tone of 2005 America...

Well Bush seems to have resigned himself to only reaching that portion of the population where "you can fool some of the people all the time" for a long time now.

Bush's trouble is he's basically trying to follow the old Clintonian tactics of stonewalling or the old trifecta of "delay, delegate, disavow" except unlike Clinton he's not very good at it.

Shrub would be perfect as Lancelot Gobbo, the old clown in Merchant of Venice who tells Antonio about his great "infection" for him.

Or if he were lucky, he might land a role as one of the great fool-kings (King John perhaps) in history.

Maybe Bush could certainly compare to MacBeth, no? Especially with his witches coven of Cheney, Rummy and Rice feeding him prophesy. MacBeth loses in battle too.

I was glad to see that I was right on that word "dissemble", after Bush screwed it up......while my education is not up to par neither will you find it at the bottom of the pit like Bushe's.

I caught that Bush-ism live too... once again he could've mitigated his foolishneses.

You know, by refraining from trying to demonstrate his Brainy qualities by pausing to define the term "disassemble".

It's a common verbal faux pas. Say the word and as drive on as if you pronounced it correctly, because its hard to catch if said quickly.

Heh. It turns out that "dissemble" was Word Of The Day on dictionary.com the day before Bush made this gaffe.

The only character from Shakesphere that Bush could be compared to is Yorick from Hamlet, who appears in the form of an EMPTY SKULL . " Alas poor Yorick I knew him well." :jester:
