i tend to drive a little slower than most. i also tend to talk a little slower than most, but that dont mean im stupid.
yesterday some "female" tried to tailgate me on a part of the road where there was no room to go around. then at the stoplight, she parked right on my bumper. whe the light turned green, she just couldnt go fast enough. now there was room to go around, but she didnt. so pizzed i was, i slowed down and came to a dead stop in the middle of the road. she eventually whipped it around and gave me a dirty look. i just smiled.

I try to keep it below ten miles over the speed limit, that's kept me ticket-free for quite a few years now. (Typing and knocking on wood at the same time.) I don't mind someone getting close, because on the these winding two lane blacktops where I spend most of my driving time you have to be ready to seize the opportunity to pass when it comes along, but, if they don't pass then, then they're just a-holes and that's when I start a gradual slowdown, just to make the steam start coming out of their ears. I've been wanting to get a bumper sticker made that says "Only sissies tailgate, when I'm in a hurry I pass".

I've never seen road rage so bad in all my life as I see it now. I've never seen so many terrible drivers in all my life and I've been driving 22 years now. But that's what happens when the already inadequate infrastructure can't handle the ever increasing volume of Sally soccer moms and Jorge Sanchez's and Joe Sixpack Patriot's driving 4 ton SUV's. More cars=more rage=lower quality of life.

Not to discredit any female members here, but it seems more often than not, i am in the way of these middle-aged females that are in a rush to get somewhere. Often times, i have pulled over to let them by only to see them drive another block and pull into a shopping center or gas station.

Right. It doesn't mean you're stupid. Like your mom explained, it just means you're slow. Slow is as slow does. :)

I disagree with your actions. There's no reason for you to be uncivil just because your slowness frustrated and caused uncivil behavior in someone else. Be white.

Being slow is rude too.
As for SUV driving middle-aged vimin, cutting them off is a good revenge for riding your tail. Rudeness breeds rudeness.

Reminds me of the line -- Have you ever noticed how anyone that drives slower than you is an idiot, and anyone who drives faster is a maniac?
2005-05-24 17:06 | User Profile
I'm a real leadfoot (~90 mph on the highway when traffic is light enough), but I never weave in and out of traffic. I think the latter behavior is what really defines a "maniac."
On the other hand, if some soccer mom in her minivan is driving too slowly in the left lane, I won't tailgate her -- I'll just blast around her.

That might have something to do with the speed you've chosen to drive.

The problem is that police don't enforce the left-lane only for passing otherwise stay in the right lane at all times rule. It really works wonderfully on European highways. Maybe there's just too many cars in America?
Without that rule the American roads are pure chaos with drivers doing 45 mph in the left lane while other drivers do 85 mph and tailgate in the middle and right lanes. If everyone drove 65-70 mph things would be alot smoother, but the State needs it's revenue and sets speed limits too low, guaranteeing speeders and tickets.

The only "road rage" I see up here in the mountains of my neck of the wood is when a deer gets in your way.
The difference between LA (where I used to live at) and up here is like night and day.

Umm, and what about a 2 lane road with a speed limit of 40mph? Suzie the speeder wasnt happy because i was only doing 40. In my case it started as a 2 lane and turned into a 4 lane. i stayed in the left lane because i was going to turn across traffic to get to a store. apparently i just wasnt moving fast enough. too bad for the whench.
Another thing that chaps my hide is when you are waiting to turn across traffic at a light and someone honks when you dont go soon enough, even though a car is coming. Guess what, if i dont like the odds, im not moving. Ive made people irate doing this occasionally.
Im not going to swerve at anyone or cut them off, id rather just move along and leave the area. If someone wants to follow me and make an "issue" of it, well thats treading on thin ice.

What about grandma or grandpa driving down a 2 lane road, with 2 or 3 cars behind them, all in a hurry. Maybe they are driving 40 in a 45 zone on the edge of town. Somone pulls around when there is a chance, blasts past the couple and flips them the bird. Ive seen it happen more than once and my blood boils.

I have driven in: Japan, Italy, Sicily, Malta, France, Spain, England, Greece, Turkey, and Germany. Mostly, of course, in America.
Driving in crazy traffic is exhilirating. You have to keep your head on a swivel. When the traffic is a long thin parking lot, 'tis boring. When it moves, it is a blast.
Playing the bob and weave game on a turnpike between New York and CT? High adventure! On the Santa Monica Freeway off rush hour? A thrill a minute! Tearing around the Dallas Metroplex? Can be a treat. Getting my VW run off the road by a pick up truck and a Cadillac, with no more than 30 minutes between events, in Houston? Wild.
Why be bored? Embrace the madness!

Try the Merritt on a Friday night, after rush hour when it's almost empty, driving home after a long day of work and a few drinks in some Manhattan bars...amazing! I did some truly stupid things when I was younger.
These days, I seem to be plagued by Asians: little Asian college kids in souped-up Hondas loudly roaring down the street at 45mph, or clueless Asian females driving minivans with a few gooklets in the back, weaving in and out of traffic, making sudden turns without signalling, or (this is my favorite) suddenly stopping in moving traffic in order to change lanes!

I've driven in France and Germany, and as far as the Autoroutes or Autobahns go, they're pure driving pleasure. The speed limit on France's Autoroutes is 85 mph (140kph) and of course, on Germany's Autobahn, there is no speed limit (except in certain areas where there's a major highway connection) and everyone follows the rules about staying in the right lane and using the left lane only for passing....even when the highway is only two lanes. I think it's absolutely marvelous, but I can't see it ever working in America.
Why be bored? Embrace the madness!
Nah, insurance costs are extreme already here. The Ling Ming Chin's and Jorge Sanchez's of the world made sure of that with their own brand of "madness".

"Gooklets"! LOL!!
O man, Chinese are awful and scary drivers. Can they even see properly?

I think you're onto something here, but I believe it goes much deeper than "road rage." Say rather, "rage in general." I don't recall ever seeing so much pent-up anger in White people as I do these days. It leaks out in a number of (usually) inappropriate ways, from overly aggressive driving to rudeness in the line at the supermarket, but all of these symptoms are only the visible tip of the great angry iceberg.
My own suspicion is that this is what Dr. Pierce called "cognitive dissonance," the inner tension that results from the conflict between the observable real world and the propagandized version of what the masses are conditioned to believe is the real world. To put it another way, White people are angry and frustrated for the same reasons that all of us here on this board are angry and frustrated, but they have been -- and continue to be -- deeply conditioned by a 24/7 stream of governmedia propaganda into ignoring that their daily experience tells them. The conflict between conditioned belief and observable reality is building up to pressure-cooker levels. The internalized conflict and the pent-up anger are almost literally driving the great mass of White people crazy.
It won't take much to light the fuse on this bomb, which is why the Media Lords are getting so desperately flagrant with their propaganda campaign.

Arkady, now I think you're really onto something here with your post. Well put, indeed. It's so true.

American freeways are a mess because people have no idea about lane discipline. And discipline in traffic is more a reflection of a society than what the police do, I think. The ability to handle traffic of freeways is probably 2x of what it takes to bring traffic to a stop, hence they need to build more lanes. When I drive on a freeway, I notice that the left two lanes are often moving slower than the rightmost one, because everyone wants to drive in the "fast" lane. Then you have idiots permanently stuck in the second lane from the right, because they don't like to deal with traffic entering freeway, thus forming a dense barrier for any lane changes. Who in the US doesn't believe that the best place to drive is second-from-right lane? Add trucks and gooks to this mix, and you have a slowly-moving disaster.

Shazam! I've noticed the same thing. My theory is that they're not "allowed" to vent rage towards the proper targets, even on a verbal level, but the agression/anger has to go somewhere.

Didn't Solzhenitsyn observe this about the Soviet citizens as well? They were so used to observing one thing and saying another that it drove many crazy with a form of schizophrenia. Privately-held beliefs and facts could never be uttered in public. "Of course there is plenty of toilet paper, Comrade. Kruschev has said so!"
The conflict between conditioned belief and observable reality is building up to pressure-cooker levels.
For which useful idiot goys like Limbaugh, Hannity and Boortz serve as relief valves, though they may be getting backed up.
The internalized conflict and the pent-up anger are almost literally driving the great mass of White people crazy.
Someone has to be eating all that Paxil and the related drugs I see ads for on the televisor. Treating the symptoms and not the cause.

The real problem in California is wehn ever there is a samall fender bender and everyone has to slow down in order to take a look.
They should place some sort of curtain around the accident area.

You're onto something here. Gooks (at least in my neck of the woods) change 3+ lanes at once with reckless abandon, typically from the leftmost lanes to the rightmost to make a quick exit.
