Former priest jailed for paedophilia
A former Anglican priest has been jailed for seven-and-a-half years after admitting to molesting 10 teenaged boys.
Louis Victor Daniels last week pleaded guilty to 13 charges, including maintaining a sexual relationship with a young person, indecent assault and attempted indecent assault.
The offences occurred throughout Tasmania between 1974 and 1993.
In the Criminal Court in Hobart, Justice Pierre Slicer said 57-year-old Daniels used his position as a deacon and later as a priest in the Anglican Church, to harass young boys who were entrusted to the Anglican Church by their parents.
Daniels will be eligible for parole in five-and-a-half years.
