m Denies Sparking Fast-Food Attack With Racial Slur Manager Says Woman Called Him 'N Word'

SAN DIEGO -- The Burger King manager who police say followed a disgruntled customer to another restaurant and threw a cup of soda at her says he was angry at being called a racial slur, NBC 7/39 reported.

Mark Martin, 20, said Carolyn Blake called him the "n word" after he told her he could not serve her breakfast because it was past the restaurant's 10:30 a.m. cutoff time. Martin is black.

Blake, 43, denies using the word. She has pressed charges against Martin, who was questioned and released with a misdemeanor battery citation on Sunday.

"I was in utter shock," Blake said. "That my son and I, coming from church, would be victimized to that extent that a man would literally leave a business and follow us and attack us was ... It was like something you would see in a movie. It wasn't something you would understand.

The argument broke out at 242 North El Camino Real. Blake said she left for McDonalds and was on Encinitas Boulevard when she realized Martin was following her. Martin threw the cups of soda at her, hitting her in the forehead and bouncing off to strike her son in the face, causing his lip to bleed."

Burger King initially offered to pay for her medical bills and cleaning costs, but has since backed out, Blake said. Martin is due in court June 13.

Martin, the black manager, is 20 years of age. Twenty.

Either Martin is a responsible young man (earning a management position at such a young age) or that this Berger King store is kept alive on life support. I am sure many big chain stores keep some stores life life support (keeping them in business, no matter how poorly they operate), just to fend of charges of racial discrimination. "See, we have a number of stores operated by blacks and serving the black community..."

Following her to throw soda on her? That rules out the idea that he's responsible.

What on earth makes Burger King think they shouldn't have to pay expenses resulting from their managers assault on a citizen?

Sure wish I was a member of the jury when the case comes to curt, that lady would walk out of the trial with a crown on her head.

That "N" word guy is 110% guilty.

Why was is it even mentioned more then once that she may have called him a nigger? Who the hell cares whether she did or not. That is pretty irrelevant and not something that would give the spook the justification to follow her and then attack her. I wonder if the members of the jury will find it of any importance that she may have used that forbidden word. I would like to say no, but even with a majority white jury, you can never be surprised by the fools out there today, and how they might feel about her using that "evil" word.

Exactly, Starr.

Sticks and stones may break his bones. I've been called worse, and NEVER would the argument hold that I had a right to assault someone. YOu'll notice in the pro sports that whenever a black attacks fans, it was b/c someone was screaming the "N" word at him.

Always a lie, b/c no way do people do that in pro stadiums. I've been to 100's of these games, never happens. But it exonerates you, eh?!?!??!
