Maori Labour MP John Tamihere generally has a knack for making the news in part this is because of questionable business dealings; but of late controversy has surrounded his comments on his colleagues describing one as swammy and another as a tosser. He even claimed that New Zealand was run by a cabal of lesbians and homosexuals. Questions were raised in parliament questioning the Prime Minister's own sexual orientation - an orientation which wasn't denied. The Prime Minister herself is in a bind - as Tamihere strikes a chord within the larger community. The Labour Party itself top heavy with university graduates and beings of 'different' sexual orientation is certainly not representative of the people as a whole - with the one shining exception of the heterosexual Maori Tamihere. Now for John's latest outburst.

In an interview, Mr Tamihere is asked by Mr Wishart about how a society can be focused on injustices of the past.

Mr Tamihere responds: "The Weisenthal Institute is the same. I’m sick and tired of hearing how many Jews got gassed, not because I’m not revolted by it - I am - or I’m not violated by it - I am - but because I already know that.

"How many times do I have to be told and made to feel guilty?"

David Zwartz, president of the New Zealand Jewish Council, said Mr Tamihere’s comment was sickening for New Zealand Jews who suffered in the Holocaust and whose families were gassed.

"It is deeply shocking for all other Jews, as was the earlier trivialising of the Holocaust by Mrs Tariana Turia. Jews have no desire to make Mr Tamihere or anyone feel guilty, we only want to have the historic truth known and understood so discrimination and oppression leading to genocide won’t happen again."

Victoria University political scientist Dr Jon Johansson said he was sure Ms Clark would have been appalled by the comment. "The Holocaust aspect - there is no redemptive quality to that thought. It contributes nothing, it pollutes our discourse," he said. "The prime minister and the party are on the horns of a dilemma, where they have to weigh up principle against the practical reality of risking losing the already fragile blue-collar vote.

"It does look like the final straw - and it’s tinder dry."

It's always funny when Maoris say politically incorrect things about Asians, and now Jews. I guess they don't feel the same weight of historical guilt weighing them down and preventing them from speaking their mind that white people do. I've got mixed feels about this though, Tamihere seems like a good bloke but I don't really like Labour so anything that hurts them politically would seem a good thing to me.

I was friends with him at university. They were trying times however as women were always ringing me up asking me to come to parties - as long as I bought good-looking John! Revelations about his quasi-cum-shady business dealings have been disappointing but I suppose par for his race. Still I have no problems with his latest diatribe against the cabal of lesbians running the country or his off-the-cuff comments on Chris Tosser and friends. As for saying politically incorrect things about Asians and others, Maoris of course are given elbow-room denied Europeans. Even Helen is reputed to have said that he didn't mean what he said about Jews or words to that effect. I'm not sure if New Zealand Jewry will be so forgiving. Nevertheless, he made a good point.

First the ADL gets behind Sheriff Baca's ludicrous, Stalinoid proposal to pass a statute requiring the arrest of every convicted "hate" criminal in the 30-million strong state of California, in order to facilitate their being registered in the manner of sex offenders (can be thrown in jail for months, for example, if they reside anywhere for ten days - or are determined by the courts to have done so - without appearing at the nearest police station in order to participate in a full day's process of re-registration, albeit most of that time spent merely waiting in the lobby). Now some Wiesenthal Center operative in Israel (why in the Sam Hill does the Simon Wiesenthal Center need to have an operation in Israel, anyway? You'd think philo-Semitic propaganda would be a bit superfluous out towards Tel Aviv and such) goes and makes these despicabe comments. Read them for yourself (they are in bold).

New Zealand MP "sick" of Holocaust

"I am sick and tired of hearing how many Jews got gassed," announced New Zealand Labor Party MP John Tamihere, in an interview released on Sunday.

Tamihere's comment was met with quick reaction from international groups as well as his own party, which currently holds the New Zealand premiership.

In a statement issued to the press, New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark described Tamihere's comments as "deeply offensive to New Zealanders" and added that "the statements are also offensive and utterly unacceptable to the New Zealand Labor Party."

Clark went on to apologize on behalf of her party: "The pain caused to the Jewish community and to others who suffered in the Holocaust by these thoughtless comments is acknowledged and deeply regretted by the Labor Party."

**In response to the New Zealander MP's comments, Dr. Efraim Zuroff, the Simon Wiesenthal Center's Israel director suggested that such a lack of understanding of the significance of the Holocaust makes Tamihere unfit for political leadership.

"It would appear that MP Tamihere is in urgent need of psychological assistance to increase his ability to deal with the sad history and reality of life on the planet Earth during the past century, an absolutely necessary quality for anyone who desires to serve as a public representative. In that respect, "Holocaust fatigue " is simply a new form of mental illness, which is a condition which should disqualify him from public service," said Zuroff on Sunday.**

According to a statement issued by the New Zealand PM's office, Tamihere will not attend caucus this Tuesday and will be placed on extended leave, as part of an agreement made with Labor Party leadership in light of this, the latest in a series of brash statements that caused embarrassment to the Labor Party leadership.

This same guy is back in the news for cat abandonment.
**Tamihere escapes charges after abandoning his cats ** 05 May 2005

Embattled Labour MP John Tamihere is in trouble again - this time with animal lovers for abandoning two cats without food or water.

Mr Tamihere admitted to the SPCA he had abandoned the two four-year-old cats when he left his west Auckland house last month, and has since signed them over to the SPCA.

A tense Mr Tamihere refused to discuss details today.

"If the SPCA says that's what happened then that's probably the case," he said and referred further questions to the SPCA.

SPCA Auckland chief executive Bob Kerridge said Mr Tamihere could have been prosecuted but a charge was not laid because the cats were signed over to the SPCA.

They were taken into SPCA care after concerned neighbours complained they had been abandoned.

"We made contact with John Tamihere and his partner and they confessed they were indeed their cats. They signed them over to us and as a result of that we issued a warning which is a notice which goes on file should there be any future offence," Mr Kerridge said.

He said there was "not an awful lot said" by Mr Tamihere and it appeared he did not want to talk about it and wanted the issue to go away as quickly as possible.

"We take it very seriously. Abandonment is one of the worst crimes. It is deliberate. It is not as if they lose them. It is a deliberate act.

"It does not matter if it is Smith, Brown or Tamihere. It is the same crime."

He said abandoning an animal was a callous act.
Speaking of the constant whinning about the "holocaust", I heard Limbaugh bitching about this today. After reading this, he referred to this as the worst mass murder in history. Rush doesn't know sqaut about history.

Jewish World Review May 5, 2005 / 26 Nissan, 5765

FDR didn't give a damn about the Jews — nor did the NYTimes, which brought Jewish self-hatred to a head long before the rubric gained popularity

By Sidney Zion

New book documents with painstaking precision story nobody else would

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com | It's a given that The New York Times ignored the Holocaust, a sin of omission confessed by the paper itself.

Now we have a book that says it ain't so — that from the beginning to the end of World War II, The Times published 1,186 stories about the extermination of the European Jews. It just buried the stories inside.

"Buried by The Times" is the title of the book, and it's more damning by far than anything the critics ever said about the paper's coverage of the worst mass murder in history.

This book proves that The Times not only knew about the Holocaust but printed many of the horrific details. In the six years of the war, just 26 pieces made the front page, half of them in 1944, when most of the Jews were dead. And only a half-dozen mentioned that Jews were the victims.

"This important book answers—in a compelling fashion—some of the questions which have long been asked about the New York Times' coverage of the Holocaust. Probing far behind the headlines, Leff tells the fascinating story of how the Sulzberger family was rescuing its relatives from Germany at the same time that it was burying the story of the Holocaust in the inner recesses of the paper." — Deborah E. Lipstadt, author of Beyond Belief: The American Press and the Coming of the Holocaust

The author, Laurel Leff, a professor of journalism and a former reporter for The Wall Street Journal, has done a fine job of research in the archives of the paper of record. Others could have done that, but nobody has. More important, she has brilliantly analyzed the reasons Arthur Hays Sulzberger, the German-Jewish publisher of The Times, brought Jewish self-hatred to a head long before the rubric gained popularity.

In 1939, when the Nazis began to destroy the Jews of Poland, what bothered Sulzberger was Franklin Roosevelt's casual remark that Jews were a "race." He got FDR to call them a "faith," which settled the issue of the Warsaw Ghetto for him.

On the eve of Thanksgiving 1942, the State Department confirmed that 2 million Jews were dead in Europe, and it allowed Rabbi Stephen Wise, the leader of American Jewry, to announce the news. The Times didn't send a reporter to the press conference in Washington. Instead, it ran a short from The Associated Press — on page 10, surrounded by turkey ads.

What if FDR had announced the news? Then, even a scared Jew like Sulzberger would have been afraid to keep it off the front page. And if that happened, millions of Jews could have been saved.

But Roosevelt didn't give a damn about the Jews. When the chips were down, they were expendable. He never lifted a finger to save them, and when faced with the 1944 election, for the first time he spoke out against the massacre and it made page 1: "Roosevelt Warns Germans on Jews."

If I have a cavil about this wonderful book, it's that the author doesn't blame FDR enough. It doesn't excuse Sulzberger, who, as a publisher should have exposed the Holocaust by himself. But we should remember that even Moses needed help at the Red Sea. In just the past couple of days, I believe, the whole nation of Israel had a moment of silence in remembrance of the Holocaust. I wish I could have been there with one of those party favors that goes FWEEEEE! when you blow into it.

I'm sick to death of Jewish narcissism. To be honest, it makes very little difference to me whether or not the Holocaust happened as claimed by the Jews. What matters is that it was trivial compared to other mass murders in history. We're all sick of hearing Jews whine about it. I'm glad Mr. Tamihere had the balls to say so.

Needed: More Holocaust jokes to spread around the Internet. The Holocaust should be trivialized as much as possible.

On the bright side, they are really shooting themselves in the foot. The atrocity porn gets ever more outrageous, even as the number of "death camp" "survivors" mysteriously grows. More and more people are asking questions. The Jews are so frantic they're even talking about second and third generation Holocaust trauma. Few people will take such insanity seriously.

Past-life Holocaust remembrances? Paging Shirley Maclaine! What was that some wag said?

"Holocaust survivors don't die off. They multiply."

Perhaps a whoopee cushion? Blame it on Sharon bending over.

Or art. Or science. Or music. Or books. The winbag's colossal ignorance is matched only by his equally gargantuan ego. A fine combo for the modern American "Let's Role!" crowd.
