What a creep.

[Comments by Gene Robinson, Bishop of the New Hampshire Diocese], made in a recent address at the Christ Church of Hamilton and Wenham in Massachusetts, have enraged traditional Anglicans who have suggested that the Bishop should be "struck down by thunder and lightning bolts". Bishop Robinson, whose consecration in 2003 triggered a schism between evangelicals and liberals in the worldwide Anglican Communion, was giving an address entitled "Homosexuality and the Body of Christ: Is There a New Way?"

In answer to a question from the congregation about how the acceptance of homosexuality could be squared with the scriptural emphasis on redemption for sins, the Bishop replied: "Interestingly enough, in this day of traditional family values, this man that we follow was single, as far as we know, travelled with a bunch of men, had a disciple who was known as 'the one whom Jesus loved' and said my family is not my mother and father, my family is those who do the will of God. None of us likes those harsh words. That's who Jesus is, that's who he was at heart, in his earthly life.

''Those who would posit the nuclear family as the be all and end all of God's creation probably don't find that much in the gospels to support it," he said.

In summery, because Jesus was single, the homosexual lifestyle is alright? Gene Robinson is a liar.

Jesus defined marriage as the union of a man and a woman and Jesus held that adultery is a sin. So, the leftist tactic of ignoring all the Bible outside of the gospels still doesn't help.

In the next passage, He tells us to "let the children come . . . "

I also point out that St. Peter- the guy He put in charge of the movement after He left - was married, and I suppose some of His other followers were, too, but I'd have to check.

He also built a big fence around adultery by saying that even looking at a woman in lust constitutes the sin as you say.

There's no question that He made marriage and family the bedrock institution of His people.

When I'm elected Pope at the next conclave, my first order will be for faithful Catholics to seize "Bishop" Robinson and burn him at the stake.

The liberal bishops will be presented to me with ropes around their necks.

Another charming little factoid about Robinson. I heard him on NPR bragging about a center he started so that youths who are "questioning" can meet with adult homosexuals.

Walter Yannis:

For further Biblical endorsement of the heterosexual lifestyle, my Dad has a saying:

"The Bible says Adam and Eve, not Adam and STEVE!"

Cracks me up every time. Sorry if you've heard it.

I'm convinced this guy is warped and I think so were his parents. What many people don't know, but I saw it reported a few times, is that "V. Gene Robinson's" real name is not Eugene but Imogene. The "V" stands for Victoria. This sodomite actually has a woman's name: Victoria Imogene Robinson!

Apparently his parents wanted a girl and had a name already picked out. When he was born they gave him the girl's name. What kind of crazy parents would deliberately do something like that to a male child? Only wackos or morons. Its no surprise the guy is sexually perverted.

Children's hormonal urges are relatively unbridled, so I can see how environment, specifically, an adult playing on the emotions of a young pubescent, would be a factor.

I'm a father so I'm admittedly biased on this point, but I think the best predictor for a normal, healthy sexuality is a strong relationship with the father, and I think this applies to both boys and girls.
In summery, because Jesus was single, the homosexual lifestyle is alright? Gene Robinson is a liar.
And in a mystical sense, Jesus wasn't single, because the Church is the Bride of Christ.

Yes, the bride, not the groom.

Jesus said "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." Man and wife.

When Jesus saved the adulterous woman from being stoned, he implied that he believed adultery is a sin because he told the woman to leave her life of sin.

Any "Church" that refuses to condemn homosexuality is not a church of God. No way. This is not one of those things where there is room for debate about what the Bible teaches.

That one particular issue is a pretty good delineator as to where a specific confession is at on the orthodox/liberal scale. Another one is holding to the Scriptures as the inerrant, literal Word of God. In my experience those two things go hand in hand more often than not.

An oldie-but-goodie!

I dig the slogan in your signature.
Yes, the bride, not the groom.
Exactly. I wasn't disagreeing with your post at all; I was just using it to make a point.

As God said in the beginning, it isn't good for man to be alone, and no one should be. Christ set the example by taking the Church as His Bride. Men and women are meant for each other, and those called to celibacy are 'married' to the Church. Being perpetually single is not what God has ordained for us.
That one particular issue is a pretty good delineator as to where a specific confession is at on the orthodox/liberal scale.
Bullseye. Homosexuality is far from the most important issue in Christianity, but it seems to serve as a barometer of orthodoxy with 100% accuracy.
