Can anyone tell me why I've gotten an uncontrollable tidal wave of pop ups on my computer since last Wednesday. What have I done wrong? How can I save myself?

You need the Firefox web browser. Built in pop-up blocker and lot's of cool features. It's radically superior to Internet Explorer. :smartass:

Never have any problems with my comp, I use AOL .04, never download anything, disconnect without closing down AOL (that way they cannot "update" my comp) and keep my IM close to everyone....if they want to contact me they can send me an Email, it works.

All you need to do is install AdSubtract. Works like a charm. The only problem is that it sometimes blocks things you don't want blocked, but it always lets you know what's been blocked so you can decide if you want to accept or reject the blocked item. If you have Comcast, you have to disable AdSubtract in order to view things in the "fan".

A good sugestion from Six about using Firefox.

Also the Google Toolbar has a very good popup blocker - But there are some concerns as to how intrusive Google itself is.
