My ancestors on my Dad's side of the family were mostly Methodist Protestants.

Everyone recalls the Methodist Episcopal reunion in 1939 or '40, but, they forget that the Methodist Protestants got back together with the two Methodist Episcopal churches at that time too.

From what I can glean, and the pickin's are slim, the Methodist Protestants were the last to split before the Civil War and the first to get back together after the "war".

Where as the Methodist Episcopals had about an 80 or so year split.

Rumor has it the Methodist Protestants were somewhat anti-clerical, in an American sort of way. :smartass: Strong on the Reformation and its principles i.e. every man his own priest.

Anyone want to talk about the Methodist Protestants.
