Dave Chappell recently signed a $50 million(!) contract with Comedy Central to continue his show. This past week I ran across Chappell's Show and decided to watch it.

I like comedy and I'm not judgmental of off-color comedy. I have seen a lot of black comedians, and even white comedians, tell stupid anti-white jokes. I expect black comedians to bash whites. But, I had never seen anything as malevolently anti-white as Chappell's Show.

Chappell introduced a skit. He explained that reality shows feature a lot of whites and a token black. But, what would a reality show look like if things were reversed, house full of blacks with a lone white guy?

In the skit, the white guy is constantly subjected to extreme verbal abuse by the black house mates. Some of the things in the skit: The white guy's blond girlfriend came to visit him, and the black men in the house all have sex with her – and she wanted it, and she spends the rest of the sketch (which supposedly covers a number of days) in their laps. The white guy is shown crying about it during those brief commentaries that are part of reality shows. The white guy's dad came to visit the house, and he is stabbed (and killed?). The white guy was put in a sleeper hold and sodomized after passing out. The black men are repeatedly shown masturbating (while covered) while watching events. Then the white guy then gets voted out of the house.

I couldn't even detect a pretense that this was meant to be funny. It was just pure racist meaness. You would actually have to see it to fully appreciate Chappell's depravity.

That was a stupid skit. I never find black comedians funny, but I have to confess that I have laughed my ass off at Chappell's show (Martin Lawrence is another black comedian I found/find funny). My favorite skit is the blind black guy who's a white supremicist. Without a doubt, the funniest show on TV is/was Strangers with Candy. I don't know if Comedy Central still plays it (it's out on DVD).

Chappell can be quite funny. His portrayals of blacks are not flattering at all.

Not in your white perspective, anyway. But, I doubt Chappell thinks his portrayals of blacks are so bad. Comedy demands some degree of non-flattering behavior, and the only way for Shappel to avoid non-flatting portrayals of blacks is to fire all the blacks on his acting staff and replace them with whites. That's not going to happen.

I saw the skit with white family with the surname of Nigger. That was funny.

Now, how about a skit were we're suppose to laugh at a black man getting strung up? Just to be fair.

Lighten up. Chappelle plays on racial stereotypes equally, which makes his show hilarious, because it's the only show that makes fun of black people. Plenty of black comedians make fun of whites, and whites are forbidden from doing the reverse. Chappelle is an equal opportunity comic.

How could any white person complain about the Mad Real World skit? It put a normal white person, who was diligent in his work, nice, and had a nice girlfriend in a house with a bunch of black people. End result: he was tormented and eventually thrown out of the house by a bunch of black people who rolled dice, smoked weed, skipped out on their job, went to prison, and slept all day. I don't see how anyone could watch that and think blacks were being portrayed kindly and whites not.

True, there are unflattering portrayals of blacks on the show, with Tyrone the Crackhead being one of the most hilarious, but I think the unease that y'all are trying to put your finger on is the fact that whites are always, always portrayed as weak on that show. While blacks may be portrayed as crude, addicts, etc, they are never shown to be p**sies, the way whites constantly are. The one skit that irritated me had Chappelle writing down things for a pretty white choir singer to say, the joke being that Chappelle's "Black Power!!!" thoughts would be less threatening coming from her. Fine and dandy, but when he started writing down crude sex acts he'd like to perform on the girl, which she then had to read, my vomit-meter pegged because you could see her wince, but you could also see the struggle on her face as she could think of no way to not do it. Basically, he humiliated her for a cheap laugh. Hardly a surprising or unique event, I know, but it was really driven home watching this poor woman forced to debase herself. Yeah, I know she signed up for it, but I doubt she realized the depths to which she'd be sunk. Maybe she learned something, or maybe I'm just thinking wishfully and she'll be back in the future, longing for a Chappelle-wielded beer bottle up the kiester, as long as the check clears.

She wasn't humiliated. It was obviously staged. You don't think she had the script in advance?

Yes, the whites are portrayed as weak but again, that's the stereotype and that's what he plays off of.

But the whites weren't weak in the Black White Supremacist skit.

Could be, I didn't discount the possibility. Like I said...

More like stupid.

I've seen a few episodes, and I must admit that there were hilarious moments: the blind black "White" racist; that gut-bustin' send-up of rap ape "Li'l Jon" ("WH-HAT?! WH-HAT?! YE-AH!!) But I have to agree that White men are shown as nothing but evil wimps. I saw one skit with Chappelle going back in time to a plantation: of course Whitey was cracking the whip on da po', downtrodden nigras - until Chappelle pulled his gat blew him away in a very bloody scene.

Any laughter the show might provoke dies gutterally in my throat upon contemplation of that $50 million.
