I went to see it though, and I think I see why. I think its got a lot of rather interesting and biting ethnic humour, (as well as homophobic). Makes fun of the Russian Mafia, queers, blacks, and worst of all - Jews. (the renegade music agent, a guy named Lowenthal, who tries to dress like an Italian gangster and talk - hilariously - like a black mobster/gangsta rapper, I think rings just a little too close to home for the reviewers.
The "russian" mafia also looked rather appropriately the part - not exactly Putin lookalikes, more like wolfman jack clones. But the best was the speech on colored injustice when the black gansta rappers get called "niggers" by the russian mafiosi.
I think it has a bit of the makings of the last great anti-PC movie, "The dventures of Ford Fairlane" by Andrew Dice Clay (aka Silverstein) whom I still personally like, even though a bit overrated.
