ATLANTA - A judge presiding over a rape trial was shot to death Friday at the Fulton County Courthouse, along with his court reporter and a sheriffââ¬â¢s deputy, authorities said. A second deputy was critically wounded and a search was under way for the suspect, the defendant in the trial.
Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor confirmed that Superior Court Judge Rowland Barnes and his court reporter were killed. He gave no other details in announcing the deaths in the state Senate. A deputy died later at a hospital, authorities said.
Witnesses said the gunman carjacked a car and authorities were searching for a green Honda Accord, with Georgia license no. 6584-YN. that was hijacked from a newspaper reporter.
Fulton County Sheriffââ¬â¢s Lt. Clarence Huber identified the suspect as 33-year-old Brian Nichols, who was on trial on rape and other charges stemming from an incident in August.
Allegedly grabbed deputy's gun County employee Ali Lamei said he was told by officers that the prisoner grabbed a sheriffââ¬â¢s sergeantââ¬â¢s gun while he was being escorted.
ââ¬ÅWe heard some noise. It sounded like three or four shots. At the time, we thought it was just an engine backfiring,ââ¬Â said Chuck Cole, a civil defense attorney who was in an adjoining parking deck when he heard gunfire at around 9:10 a.m.

Barnes was hearing civil cases at the time of the shooting, and Nicholsââ¬â¢ trial was set to resume in the afternoon, district attorneyââ¬â¢s office spokesman Erik Friedly said.
After Nichols obtained the gun, ââ¬Åitââ¬â¢s my understanding he made his way into the courtroom on his own,ââ¬Â Friedly said. Itââ¬â¢s not unusual for defendants to be brought to the courthouse in the morning to wait in a holding area for sessions later in the day, he said.
A male sheriffââ¬â¢s deputy died at Grady Hospital of a wound to the abdomen and a second, a woman, was being treated for a head wound and facial fractures suffered when she fell after being shot, hospital officials said. She was in critical condition but expected to survive, they said.
Newspaper reporter beaten The Atlanta Journal-Constitution newsroom staff was told that Don Oââ¬â¢Briant, a features reporter for the paper, was beaten by the suspect and his car stolen outside the courthouse. Mike King, an editorial board member for the paper, said Oââ¬â¢Briant was taken to the hospital.
All the judges in the building were locked in their chambers. The courthouse and other buildings in downtown Atlanta were on lockdown. Schools around the area also were locked down.
Traffic in the blocks surrounding the courthouse was backed up as police cruisers flooded the area looking for the suspect, who remained at large more than 2ý hours after the shooting.
James Bailey, a juror at Nicholsââ¬â¢ trial, said the jury was not in the courtroom at the time of the shooting. Bailey said Nichols had made him and other jurors nervous. ââ¬ÅEvery time he looked up, he was staring at you,ââ¬Â Bailey said. He said Barnes was the presiding judge.
Barnes was named to the Fulton County Superior Court bench in 1998.
Judge handled high-profile cases Among cases he handled was the fatal 2003 car wreck by hockey star Dany Heatley that killed 25-year-old teammate Dan Snyder. Heatley pleaded guilty and was sentenced Feb. 4 to three years on probation and ordered to give 150 speeches about the dangers of speeding.
Barnes, 64, also drew attention last month when he took the unusual step of ordering a mother of seven who pleaded guilty to killing her 5-week-old daughter to undergo a medical procedure that would prevent her from having more children.
The shooting happened 11 days after the husband and elderly mother of a federal judge in Chicago were shot to death in her home. A man whose medical malpractice lawsuit was dismissed by the judge committed suicide and left a note saying he was the killer. Police said Friday that a DNA sample from the man matched the one recovered from a cigarette butt found at the crime scene, indicating he was in fact the killer.

When city and county officials become majority black, like Atlanta, meltdowns in security and order, like black court officers escorting a defendant to a courtroom and not knowing he's armed, are sure to happen more frequently in various fashions.
Look at Detroit, then look at Atlanta, DC, NYC, Philadelphia, LA. It's happening all around us in the place we call the 'Kwa.

It's like, too much to ignore, these coincidences, when Meuller is saying terrorist sleeper cells are about to pop up, like retroviruses in gay bowels; i.e. they need fresh sacrificial hate blood bad, now. Who/what next?

Local news says the security around Nichols was beefed up after they found two knives on him during a search at court the day before. So, the security professionimals of Atlanta put a female deputy on the 200+ lb. beast, who promptly pounded the crap out of the female deputy, shot her, and then made his way through to the courtroom.

I hate for my racist tendencies to get the better of me, but I can't help but wonder if the fact that this guy has been on the run for 13+ hours isn't a result of a black culprit (who shot and killed three whiteys) on the run in a predominately black city?

For 13 hours there has been a BOLO for a green Honda Accord with specific GA tags. The Atlanta PD just discovered the car in the same garage it was stolen in, merely on another floor. The car was found by a retired APD officer. This is staggeringly incompetent. The police didn't go through the whole garage??!!! Compare this lack of sharps with the white cop in WI who followed up on the Bart Ross car.

This whole episode is a classic reason why you don't engage in social engineering for diversity, "affirmative action", or any other of myriad reasons that "liberals" come up with. Their social engineering has once again backfired- three people dead at this time. I hope they feel good about their "good intentions", but I know better. They never learn.
