Anybody read this thing? I have simultaneously been watching this treacly Ken Burns series on the "War of Northern Aggression" and it does not present the same image of Lincoln at all. I have not finished the book, but I have always understood Lincoln to be ambivalent about, if not directly endorse the institution of slavery. What's up with this guy? Was he just your typical two-faced politician?
