I'm looking for something along the lines of heirloom quality firearms that maybe actually fired more than occasionally. A friend suggested I look at these two pieces. They're not quite as common as the other Walthers. A P88 NIB turned up for $1800. A slightly used P5 with 4 magazines priced @ $1200

Anybody have any info on the reliability and accuracy of these pieces? Or despite whatever merits these two pistols might possess, are they really priced as collector's pieces?

Oklahomaman,

I am not a gun expert, but they seem like good guns I do not recall reading anything bad about the Walthers. That seems like pretty high price. If you want it for shooting, something like a Walther P38 or Browning Hi-power would be less costly or even a good old 1911. You could buy two or three 1911 for that. If I wanted collector's I might go for a Luger P08.
