Over at the egregiously misnamed website Free Republic, someone linked to the Chronicles tribute to Sam Francis. The thread attracted a fair bit of comment, most of it favorable to Sam. The thread was then pulled, because it was outside the bounds of cheerleading for Bush that passes for conservatism at Free Republic.
Along with Peter Brimelow, I wonder if the Bush White House is funneling money to Free Republic, as it did to Armstrong Williams and others.
I wonder the same.
Someone is paying RimJob's bills.
The sudden influx of pro-Bush, pro-Israel "moderators" circa 1999-2000 was highly suspicious; the recent round of purges over at FR is hardly new and has been going on for a least the past five years.
There was speculation at the time that the lawsuit by the mainstream media (I believe the Washington Post?) against Free Republic reposting newspaper articles was part of a "squeeze play" to threaten FR with financial ruin, and to do a deal putting in pro-Zionist moderators in control of FR to cleanse it of "dangerous" posters.
If so, Bush would have been the second group to "buy" RimJob, not the first.

I'm sure of it.
I've been observing the Fweepers for a while, and here's what I noticed:
George Bush is "god."
Defend Republicans no matter what they do. You must place the GOP above all else: Race, morality, or the best interests of the US.
Latinos/Hispanics (or whatever the hell they call themselves) are the hardest-working, best-looking, most awesome people in the world (I notice Freepers are a lot more pro-Latino than they are pro-Black, probably because Hispanics out-number Blacks, and they need their votes).
It's perfectly acceptable to use terms like "white trash," "redneck," or "gringo" all you want. However, any derogatory posts against minorities will get your post deleted, and you may even get banned (after all, the GOP needs minority votes, so we don't want to offend them, now do we?). And if a White freeper complains, just say they are being over-sensitive, and they need to "lighten up."
Don't forget to bash Europe -- the ancestral homeland of the White race -- as much as possible. (e.g. "The French suck!")
Anyone who is against illegal immigration will be denounced as: a xenophobe, a filthy racist, a Nazi, or -- and I'm not making this up -- a liberal Democrat.
You must support Israel no matter what. Israel = US.
It's ok to mock the attack on the USS Liberty.

Meanwhile, FReepers pay tribute to black history month. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1346480/posts It just keeps getting more and more ridiculous over there every day.

Recluse,
The link in your post show what can happen to people who suffer from over exposer to Sean Hannity. They can pander all they want, they aren't going to get anymore votes than they normally get. Those folks really live in a cloud coo-coo land.

It's not just the pandering, it's the dubious historical claims, the hypocrisy and the glaring double standard. (Try posting Kemp's history of the White race over there and see how long you last.) Black history mumff used to be the object of scorn and ridicule on conservative message boards, with good reason. RimJobistan deserves the same contempt.

What makes Jim Robinson an especially despicable individual is not his sycophantic behavior towards George W. Bush, nor his love for Mexican illegal immigrants, nor even his Israel-First foreign policy. What is truly disgusting about Robinson is that he turned on a dime (thanks to either a carrot or stick waved at him by the "right" people) to espouse these views after years of stating the exact opposite.
I don't have the time or inclination to read through FR archives from the late 90's, but I remember Robinson expressing nothing but loathing and disgust at the corrupt Bush family dynasty and their dim-witted heir to the throne. Today, he bans people for speaking the slightest ill about Bush. In the late 90's, he attacked the GOP for being opportunists without principle, while today Third Party enthusiasts are barely tolerated. Just 5 years ago, Sam Francis articles were standard fare at FR, now a thread where a half-dozen renegades pay their respects to his memory (against a Jackal chorus of "Black Republican," Zionist, and open borders types) gets pulled to make room for more Steve Schwartz articles.
And yet the Jim Robinson who today waves the Israeli flag to commemorate the USS Liberty attack was not always the sockpuppet of Abe Foxman or William Kristol. Dear reader, take a look at this thread http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a39ae97b46d31.htm , less than five years old. "Old Faithful" Zionist Conspirator and his friends wail about "Jew haters" at FR, and the old Jim Robinson tells them to take a rest:
It's also full of Catholic haters, Baptist haters, Protestant haters, Islam haters, Muslim haters, Christian haters, Atheist haters, Mormon haters, Buddhist haters, etc.
It's also full of Catholic lovers, Baptist lovers, Protestant lovers, Islam lovers, Muslim lovers, Christian lovers, Atheist lovers, Mormon lovers Buddhist lovers, and Jewish LOVERS!
We have people of every walk of life and every religion and some who do not believe in religion at all. We also have a first amendment which guarantees our God-given right to freedom of speech and freedom of religion. People are free to love, like, dislike, hate or be indifferent to anyone or anything they choose. We do try to keep out some of the more hateful or threatening stuff, but we are definitely not going to delete every post where someone expresses their dislike for some religion, person or thing.
Give it a break! Religion is NOT the primary topic of this website to begin with. I would just as soon NONE of it is posted here.

In other words, he espoused a fair policy: keep out the VNN-style material, but maintain a level playing field where ideas stand or fall on their own merits. What the GOP, the ADL, and similar organizations did to transform FR from a green pasture to an open sewer is a very interesting question. I wish somebody in Robinson's inner circle would defect and tell the world about it - i.e. did the ADL threaten a law suit or did neocon think tanks start pouring money in under the condition that "troublemakers" get removed?
I also wonder whether men like Robinson and Buckley have enough decency and introspection to privately despise themselves for opportunistically betraying their own principles.

AntiYuppie,
Thanks for this post of a Robinson that most weren't either aware of or had forgotten. He certainly is a rank opportuntist.
I wonder the same.
We've sure proved it's part of their modus operendi. And funneling money to Free Republic would be much easier, since Free Republic gets donations on a regular basis, including a lot of well heeled individuals who undoubtedly contribute to Bush directly also.

A great post. Yes, Jim Robinson is a sick animal.

Who can forget Jim Robinson's favorite refrain in 2001, "Take it to Sam Francis!" voiced whenever an FR poster dared say something politically incorrect on racial, ethnic, or religious matters.
I was quite amused to see FR's commemoration of Black History Month. By next year, Martin Luther King Day will be as much cause for rejoicing at FR as it is at Democratic Underground. FR seems to have a healthy contingent of "Black Republicans" who differ from their democratic counterparts in that their victim politics is more subtle. In other words, they support Alan Keyes' proposal to excempt negroes from taxation rather than the more aboveboard "Slavery Reparations" handouts promoted by Al Sharpton. Of course, GOP Keyes enthusiasts are too dim to see that the net result of a handout and tax exemption is one and the same thing with one and the same motive.

AntuYuppie,
I suspect you're right. "Free" Republic has a rather noisy contingent of minorities. I would bet that most of them are leftists who came on simply to suppress any intelligent debate that Robinson hasn't dealt with. They know that "Free" Republic is now so p.c. and J.R. so afraid of being accused of "racism" that they can pretty much do as they please when it comes to intimidation.

Sam Francis: The Free Republic Tribute [A Reader] - 02/22/05
I'm a former member of "Free" Republic who lasted all of three weeks in March of 2001. I was booted for you guessed it, starting threads about the immivasion. My crime was the worst of all, I posted columns by Dr. Francis.
They always drew overwhelmingly favorable comment before they were yanked by Robinson and company.
Hereââ¬â¢s a link to the original thread in memory of Dr. Francis that was recently pulled on "Free" Republic. I would appreciate if you could post a link to it, maybe in your blog, so others may see just how nasty the FROBL [Free Republic Open Borders Lobby] and the neocons can truly be, for what they wrote to me and others is sheer nastiness. I happily note that most of the people who posted had kind words in memory and rebukes for the louts. I wish this to be a small tribute in honor of a brilliant man and a great patriot.

The owner of "Original Dissent" was kind enough to allow it to be reposted there in full.
While I don't agree with some of the comments on that website, I will say it is a veritable oasis in a desert of ignorance when it comes to the "National Question."
