Part I. Configuration of events (Feb 5-15): Gay Disease (poison outbreak) Repetition of Reagan’s America:

Feb. 5 (after New Iraq/Birth of a Nation vote – another stillbirth) -- NY Times A.1 “ New York Judge Opens A Window To Gay Marriage” II. NY Times Feb. 9.’05 B1 “Welcome To the Fray, Mr. Mayor”, Joyce Purnick. Commenting on Bloomberg’s announcement of personal approval, but official legal challenger, to gay marriage. III. NY Times announced new mutant drug-resistant LGV virus (exaggerated claims) found in two gay men in separate cases, story emphasizing anal intercourse as mode of transmission, warning against complacency and “unprotected sex.” V. Feb.12-13 “A Drug Resistant H.I.V Strain Is Reported in New.York City” A1; “Chilled by Findings, Investigators Dreaded the Mounting Evidence” B4; “Among Gays Grown Complacent And Often Careless, Fear Returns” B4 Cases marked by -rapid progression to full-blown Aids -resistance to treatment by available drugs.

Quotes: “At news conference in Lower Manhattan, Dr. Frieden was joined by nearly a dozen AIDS experts and community leaders.  Several participants said they were experiencing the same worried feeling they had more than two decades ago, when AIDS first appeared and there was no treatment.”

“In May 2003, the man (individual regarded as apparent source of the new stratin) tested negative for H.I.V., health officials said.  Investigators believe he contracted H.I.V. in October 2004 when he engaged in unprotected anal sex with multiple partners while using crystal methamphetamine. (note:  same wording used in both reports 2.12-13.)   “The man found some of his partners on an Internet Web site”.  This detail also repeated.  “Dr. Perry Halkitis, a psychologist at New York University is who is studying the relationship between crystal meth use (sic) and H.I.V. infection in gay men, said he believes that the Internet also makes sit much easier for like-minded partners to connect, compounding the spread of H.I.V.”.


“”We believe that the transmission of treatment-resistant H.I.V. was a disaster waiting to happen, particularly in communities where safe sex is not practiced  regularly and in light of people using drugs like crystal meth,” D. Braun said.

AST Sunday, Times reporter Judith Miller appeared on MSNBC's "Hardball With Chris Matthews" to discuss the Iraqi elections. In the course of the conversation Miller said sources had told her the Bush administration "has been reaching out" to the Iraqi political figure Ahmad Chalabi "to offer him expressions of cooperation." She continued, "According to one report, he was even offered a chance to be an interior minister in the new government." This led Matthews to interrupt Miller, exclaim "Wait a minute!" and press her to elaborate. /* If there's an act of suppression going on, the price is of course incalculable. But I don't remotely think that is the case. (See below, Part III) /* I don't think any of my cavils pertain to columnists or critics, who make their livings peddling opinion. They are their own brand names. When David Brooks appears on one show and Maureen Dowd on another, their diverging viewpoints do not demonstrate contradictions at The Times; they demonstrate the views of David Brooks and Maureen Dowd. (I'll leave it to you to determine whether a public editor falls into this category.).

Part III.  Calculating the Incalculable :
                    Living Under, or Confronting
                        The Neocon’s Lies Used to Kill

Judith Miller, Dexter Filkins, and the Chalabi menagerie – the AEI gang, etc., are working inside the New York Times to control US policy, the news, and international relations, by means of the language used by the government-controlled American press to get over on the public with lies to justify mass killing schemes.

There is a hard-core right-wing group headed by David Brooks, heir apparent to the older, fading Rosenthall/Safire cabal.

Regarding gay politics, the Times is as distinctly two-faced as Bloomberg.  The volume of coverage the community gets is totally out of proportion to its nevertheless considerable significance.  That speaks for itself, I should say.  “Get over it” has been the consistent message to a tolerant, but increasingly agitated general public, many openly sympathetic to their cause.  But it always stood out from the other “liberation” movements spawned in the ‘60’s revolution – based on the idea, with confirming illustrations, of a specific sexual practice,  stretched (in the diachronics of sign-use talking about “it”) into an “orientation”; to a very “life-style” of adherrants openly  abounding; shedding “queer”, “homo” stereotyping to win appreciation of their kind of love; …then hit by the scourge of ultimate venality:  bringing a pandemic millennial virus – poison -- into America’s bloodstream.  That effectively stopped the spread of the gayness of being gay – at least for a while.

The configuration then is repeated in many points now, with the addition of the “third dimension” reality of what we are seeing as a twisted recontrivance of what already went down.   A genuine sacrifice of gays by neocons, and while not particuarly sympathetic -- they let themselves be used -- I don't particularly like it, either.  It becomes part of their record.
