Free Republic/Invasion of Privacy - advice needed by RabidNation Wed Feb 2nd, 2005 at 05:47:06 PST

Free Republic, as it turns out, has posted my name and home address on their site with encouragement for their members to send me stuff - specifially, receipts for their inauguration day purchases. I like free prizes as much as anybody. Just not from them.

Diaries :: RabidNation's diary ::

I got a torrent of emailed and message-board threats and abuse after black-thursday.com went public, which was to be expected. But the posting of my home address...that's over the line, so far as I'm concerned.

And a few letters have turned up: some abusive. Haven't bothered to open 'em all just yet (when I see that the return address is "Bill Clinton" or "Heywood Jablome", I know who they're from.)

But what I'm wondering is, what does the law say about this kinda thing...? & to what degree is it actionable?

Would appreciate anybody's knowledge or insights.
