Arkansas governor doesn’t think enforcing immigration law is Christian.

Huckabee Criticizes Bill Sponsors

AP, Jan. 27

Little Rock Governor Huckabee has criticized immigration legislation in the Arkansas Legislature, describing the bill as inflammatory race-baiting and demagoguery, and challenges the Christian values of its main sponsor.

The bill seeks to forbid public assistance and voting rights to illegal immigrants. Huckabee says it enflames those who are racist and bigots and makes them think there’s a real problem when there is not. The bill was filed by Republican Senators Jim Holt of Springdale and Denny Altes of Fort Smith, whose northwest Arkansas region includes the state’s fastest growing Hispanic population.

Huckabee, also a Republican and a Baptist minister, said Arkansans should welcome hardworking immigrants of all races. He singled out Holt, who often talks of his strong Christian beliefs. The governor said I drink a different kind of Jesus juice. My faith says don’t make false accusations against somebody. In the Bible, it’s called don’t bear false witness.

Huckabee said Holt’s plan to deny prenatal care for illegal immigrants goes against their shared anti-abortion principles. In response, Holt said he was hurt by the governor questioning his faith. Holt said he is not prejudice “except against those with prejudice. He said his legislation is an attempt to uphold the law and protect the benefits that apply to citizens.

If Gov. Huckabee discerns a conflict between his gubenatorial oath of office and his religious faith, then he his honor-bound to resign the governorship of Arkansas. If he won't do that, then his words mean nothing, other than perhaps he likes to take occassional, gratis tours of Tel Aviv brothels....

It is the sort of misguided emoting that Huckabee displays that allows the greed heads of Wall Street to make their inroads. I'd ask him what is "Christian" about reducing the wages of the legal citizens of Arkansas. It is bad enough when "liberals" pull this crap and here it is you have a so-called "compassionate conservative" doing the same thing. If he is so damn guilt ridden I suggest he give up a good bit of his salary to some charity that works in Mexico instead of screwing the people of Arkansas.

Or maybe this is a payoff to Tyson? I wonder how much money they gave to his campaign and this "Christian duty" stuff is just a cover?

This is such total crap. So, if you are against a leftist position because you're a Christian, e.g. abortion, then that's 'legislating morality.' But, if you're for some leftist position (ostensibly) because of your Christian faith, then that's hunky-dory.
The governor said I drink a different kind of Jesus juice. My faith says don’t make false accusations against somebody. In the Bible, it’s called don’t bear false witness.
I can't believe he said this. Has he been reading Oliver Revilo?

He might be sincere, like the Catholics and Lutherans who support immigration. But I think he really worships at the House of Tyson.
