Shaun of the Dead: 2004 made in England. Really funny, very witty, and really GORY at the same time; White main characters, great plot, good acting, good ending; No gratuitous sex but a bit of cursing; exceptional special fx; The place of refuge is a classic British pub; The violence is subdued and the Living use mostly weapons like golf clubs, shovels and wooden cricket bats to attack the slow-moving classic Zombies; Cause of zombies explained and set up. This film is a MUST see. A+++ More here
Dawn of the Dead: 2004, made in Hollywood, USA. Multicultural cast with a race mixing couple; strong Black man/weak White man dynamic; gratuitous violence with nothing but heavy guns a-blazing; some sex; holes in the plot (how did the zombies become zombies? never answered); completely cliche-driven; other White men in the film cast as mean-spirited haters or metrosexuals; zombies are able to run full speed which which is ludicrous and unfaithful to the original; absolutely awful dialogue, no wit, no humor; bad acting; the place of refuge for the Living is a friggin' Mall! This movie is so bad that even the gore looks shitty. Ending sucks. This remake is an American-made, Jewish-produced abomination. 0 stars. Not even worth a library rental. I've seen Shaun and the old and the new Dawn of the Dead.
Shaun of the Dead is the best parody movie I've seen. It's funny without being stupid. Very good.
The new Dawn of the Dead is the wost zombie movie I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of them.
When comparing Dawn to Shaun, you can really see the Hollywood values of pushing a liberal agenda over entertaining the viewer.
