Well guys I finally had a chance to really test my emergency power supply, my power went out four hours ago, at this time I am using one of my generators (the small one, 1,200w) and everythign is working great.

I keep 50 gallons of gasoline at hand all the time and when I feel that the time is right I'll fill my 650 gallons tank.

The guy next door came over and asked me " can't you live without power?" and I told him "I can't live without my comp" hahahahahahah, sad very sad.

I have two freezers a big one for storage and a smaller one for everyday use, by forcing all the food from the small freezer into the big one it only take two hours a day from my emergency suppy in order to keep all the food in the big freezer frozen.

For this I swich from my 1,200w to my 5,000w and at the same time I heat the water for a shower and and dishes and also connect it to my frig. and clothes washer,,,,,no dryer because it takes a lot more power.

If you have any type of freezer and you have a lot of empty space then get a bunch of one gallons plastic bottles fill them 3/4 with water and place then in the freezer, as you need more space for food take out as many bottles out as you need space.

Be sure the one gallon water bottles are clean because you might want to use them in summer time for a trip or something and be sure to replace the ice water bottles with water bottles right away.

Get hold of a HEAVY CLEAR type of plastic and strech it across the top of the open freezer, secure the plastic cover at both sides of the freezer on the outside and also at the front, should be as tight as a drum,,,,,,you then cut lenghwise across the top every four inches,,,,,,,by doing this you will be able to see what's inside of the freezer and you will be able to reach into it between the slots in order to take it out the item and this will keep most of the frozen air inside.

Be sure when you strech the plastic that it is nice and smooth (flat) at all points where the cover makes contact with the freezer itself.

Keep the items separated like meat on one side and frozen tv dinner on the other, keep a list of what is where and that way you will be able to take it out right away. The less time the cover to the freezer is open the longer the food will stay frozen.

Was it much of a hassle hooking up the generators? Are they expensive?

Tangle switch between power from the outside and the generator, that way you can go from one to the other, about $350.00 for the whole thing.

At this time I am using it with extension cords but if I do see something about to happen the I'll do it as above.

Be sure to have an electrician do it for you.

Generators, for the 1,250 w $250.00 and for the 5,000w with an electric start $523.00, get the electrict start. Have a tiny one for camping 100w that's plenty for 5 15w bulbs,,,,they put out 60w each.

I would like you all to be as well prepared as I am for what is to come but in order for you to see what it will be like I would like you to do the following:

Turn off your main power swich for one week.

Turn off you main water valve for one week.

No TV, Comp, radio, tape player, NOTHING unless it is powered by either batteries or solar cell.

If you cook with gas remember that you will only have it for x ammount of time therefore think of another way to cook your meals and do it for that one week.

Think of winter time and what you would need in order to keep warm.

If you live near where you work then use a bike to get there, the same for going to the store or any where else, you might like it.

REMEMBER: multiply this one week time at least 156 weeks and make plans accordingly.

Think of yourselves and your family like if you were going to the moon for three years with no resupply ship coming in. If you don't have it you wont get it,,,,,,,,

If there is a shortage of water and fuel to heat the water here is what to do:

Heat up one bucket of water, hot but not boiling, pour half into another bucket and fill with cold water,,,,,,wash up using this one bucket, another person can use the other half of the hot water with cold water.

This is the way that I do it when ever I visit my dad in Cuba and it works just fine, one bucket is plenty in order to stay clean.

You can also leave a plastic bag with water out in the sun in the morning and by the afternoon you will have hot water.

When the you know what hits the fan and the US goes down the drain here is what to do in order to trade in a safe manner:

Never tell others what you have, remember that we could be talking about years and years of not being able to buy on the open market,,,,,if you are as well prepared as you should be then you wont have that much of a problem with the day to day items but once in a while you will find that you would like something tha you don't have,,,,,,find what you need from someone and ask them what they would like for it and then tell them that you will try to get it for them, never tell them that you already have it at hand, wait for a day or so and then go back with the exchange item and tell them that you were lucky and were able to get the item that you needed for exchange.

Some people will come to you in order to ask for something and you should never give them anything,,,,,this for me will be very hard to do sinse I am always helping people, but we are talking about life or death,,,,, if you find that you do have to give them what they want then do as follows,,,,, tell them that you don't have it but will try to get it for them, wait a while and then call them and tell them that you were able to get it from someone else but you don't know if you will be able to do it again. AGAIN never let anyone know what you have in stock.

In Cuba the neighbor came over because she had a tooth ache and needed an aspirin,,,,,,that was while I was visiting my dad and it so happen that I always take a lot of medecines for them,,,,,it is pretty hard to see a person with a tooth ache and do nothing about it, my dads new wife told this person that we didn't have any (she danm well knew that we did have it) but I told her that I had some on the dresser and gave her about five aspirins.

It is very hard to visit a country where even a nail found on the ground is like finding gold and where to have a band aid to give away makes you a doctor.

All "survivalists" should have a secret room or space, it could be a hole in the wall or a ten by twenty size room,,,,,,, how big it is will depend as to why and what for you want to use it.

A good room would one where you could hide your sensitive materials and even you and your family, if it will include you and your family then be sure to have food, water, blankets, piss containers and so on,,,,,what you keep there will depend on how long you think you will be hiding, I am not talking about your regular everyday items but your "I am going to hide" items.

My own room has a monitor camera twenty five feet away and with a monitor inside, the camara is wireless. If someone were to come near I would be able to monitor their actions and if I see that they have found the trick to opening the door I then would have time to not only to see where they all are standing but also time to get my shoot gun ready and set up my booby trap in case I get killed and they try to steal what's inside of the secret room.

I do have three shoot gun booby traps right outside my secret room (made of pipes) that I would set off as they are opening the door, that should kill or wound a couple of them and at the same time distract them and at the same time I would push the door open and start blasting away,,,,,,,,,,RAMBO PONCE, lol.

WARNING: If you already have a secret room and you hide some of your guns there then be sure NOT TO PLACE ANY NEW GUNS THERE, I am talking even those that are not registered. The reason for this is that the new guns might have a GPS chip that could guide the law enforcers agents to your other guns.

Be sure to line the walls with foil in order to stop the heat sensors that they will be using, if possible have another way to scape from there and have equipment at another location that will help you survive.

REMEMBER: If cell phones are still operating make sure to take the battery off and don't use it in your secret room, as you know now days they contain a GPS chip that can guide the law enforce agencies to your location.

I could tell you a lot more about your "secret space, room" that I could talk about but I am only guiding you so use your mind and do it right.

Please go to "Gold is money forum" and look for the article by the tittle of "As the world burns", read it and get ready.

I know that out there are people who have more experience than I do in the art of survival therefore I ask of you to please contribute with what ever writings you can in order to help everyone that comes here.

You must remember that there might not me any computers therefore what ever we write now will be all that there is.

If you like what you read then print it and have it handy and you could even pass on the info to a friend.

Ponce, Interesting thread. I think you would be better of to have propane for your water heater and clothes dryer. You could bury a 1000 gallon propane tank and it would keep a lot longer than gasoline for your generator and is less likely to be a target of theft. For that matter you could run your generator on propane, there are simple conversion kits available. Why don't the Cubans buy cheap stuff from China? Wouldn't this be more economical than re-using nails? I heard the other day that Cuban plumbers make their own pipe by melting it in a mold. Are they really that isolated?

I do have a 400 gallos prophane tank for cooking and because I am single that last me for about 12 years or longer.

I am doing ok with my gas generators and do have solar panels for emergency, I intend to get at least two more panels and about six more batteries.

And yes the situation in cuba is worse than what you could evern think about, the phamacy for the tourist and embassy personal from different countrys is about 20X30 and is supposed to be the best one in the country and the only one.

The main SUPER STORE for foreigners in cuba is about 100X100 feet but the only trouble is that you find the same things at different spots throe out the store in order to make it look more FULL, the items that you will find there are the ones that you would find at the dollar store here in the US but for about five to ten times the price.

I stopped going to Cuba about five years ago, I could no longer take what I was looking at, so sad.

The only store to buy power tools in cuba is about 10X30 and it has all the modern power tool that you can think of, but,,,,,,the only ones that can buy anything thre are the countrys that are actually building the hotels and playgrounds for the tourists in Cuba, no Cubans allowed inside.

Last time I went to Cuba I went into the super store with my American money there were five of us and we all grabbed a cart and proceede to pick stuff from the shelves whitout even looking at it, at the meat counter I saw a hole pork leg and I told the guy that I wanted it he asked me how much I wanted and I told him the whole thing, he almost fainted the cost was about $125,00 US. The total bill for that fun day was $1,675.45 and I will never forget it. You must know that in Cuba EVERYONE earns from $5.00 to $7.00 A MONTH.

Not counting the new TV, Frig., Washer and other struff that I got for them. My dad is 93 and he deserves the best that I can buy for him, I am happy to say that he is very well taken care off by his family,,,,,like I told them "as long as dad is alive I will help you out, so take good care of him" , if you were to talk to my dad you would see that it would be like talking to a 20 year old, clear voice and clear mind, may The Force be with him.

The first time that I went back in 96 a piece of the ceiling fell on me in the middle of the night and I though that it was a rat.

If the shit hits the fan in this country I only hope that the American people have the courage to live like those in Cuba, is hard but you can do it.

What's that about guns having GPS? That's news to me. How about if you just don't put the battery into your gun?

HAHAHAHAAHAHHA love it, now days the GPS can be the size of a fingernail and can work with the ambiant temperature and they can be anywhere in the gun specially in the stock.

One trick that the US government are using is to allowe the enemy to steal their equipment which contain the mini GPS and then all that the troops have to do is to follow the enemy to their lair.

How do you think the Jews (Zionists) are able to find Hammas so easy? the Jews give away free stuff which they know will fall in the hands of Hammas.

Sometime they only contain a micro transmiter and not a GPS, cheaper and easier to use.
HAHAHAHAAHAHHA love it, now days the GPS can be the size of a fingernail and can work with the ambiant temperature and they can be anywhere in the gun specially in the stock.

Ambiant temperature itself provides no useful energy. A solid-state Peltier Junction (or a big steam engine driven generator) can create electric energy from a flow of heat, but that would require placing the gun on a very hot surface.

If GPS chips were put into guns, it wouldn't be a secret.

One trick that the US government are using is to allowe the enemy to steal their equipment which contain the mini GPS and then all that the troops have to do is to follow the enemy to their lair.

Yes, GPS is used to track down stolen goods.

How do you think the Jews (Zionists) are able to find Hammas so easy? the Jews give away free stuff which they know will fall in the hands of Hammas.

If the Isrealis could find Hammas so easily, Hammas would be crushed. And, I thought most of Israeli information on Hammas came from old fashioned spying as well as torturing suspects.

A GPS chip is worthless without a trasmitter. All these things take power, especially the transmitter. Nothing short of an overt energy source is going to work.

Thank you for showing yoursef, read more about science, what makes it work is the change in temperature from hot to cold and viceversa and not heat alone.

As far as Hammas goes, why do you think that so many of them have being killed? I would say thanks to the "free" phones that somehow fall in their hands.

However, what I am doing here is a subject of suvival and not about your people, I don't see you but I can feel you.
