Does anyone know if Bernard Kerik, Tom Ridge's replacement is Jewish? He sure is a sweetheart of the media, who is currently pumping him up.
See photo at top right, next to dubya:

This just gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeling about "Homeland Security".

travis,
A New York low-life Cop high school dropout, son of a whore, sounds like a good underling for Whore-Hey Bush! He also helped run the occupation government in Iraq, good training his new role as NKVD head.
He looks like a good Cheka man, does he not? He got a bit of that Lavrenty Beria look.

I've been wondering about that myself, Travis. Whether he is or isn't Jewish, however, he seems like the type of guy who will seek to turn the "Dept. of Homeland Security" into a new Gestapo.
travis,
But still most of the power in the hands of FBI/CIA.
I don't understand all the structural complexities of the Patriot Acts and Homeland Security, but don't doubt that the Homeland Security Czar will have supervisory powers over the FBI and CIA.
Knock knock.
Faust: Yeah?
We are from the FBI and we have a search warrant and authorization to confiscate your computer and search your premises for evidence of domestic terrorism. We have reports that you have been engaging in racial agitation.

travis,
The FBI and CIA are not under his control.
To better connect the ââ¬Ådotsââ¬Âââ¬âthe countless bits of information gathered through separate intelligence operationsââ¬âCongress passed the Homeland Security Act, which became law on November 25, 2002. The act created a new cabinet-level agency, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), to coordinate homeland security efforts. The DHS incorporates twenty-two federal agencies, including the Immigration and Naturalization Service, Coast Guard, and the Border Patrolââ¬âbut not the FBI or CIAââ¬âand constitutes the biggest reorganization in the federal government since the Department of Defense was created in 1947. One of the primary roles of the DHS is to collect and coordinate intelligence from the FBI, CIA, NSA, and other agencies so that they can more easily recognize patterns and threats.

But they may likely be the ones doing the dirty work a good part of the time.

In a few years such sights will be common in America. The Bushies will see to it! Bernard Kerik can become America's Lavrenty Beria. They will get some Nice Ford Crown Victorias. They have a nice big trunk; they will need one as they go about doing their holy work. Well now be careful not to get hit on the head when they slam the trunk closed. Love Big Bother now! Oh the Joy! See you all at the Gulag!

Since when is some doofus New York flatfoot the most qualified candidate for a top-level Federal post? Is one of the qualifications for Homeland Security Director the ability to solicit and receive petty bribes?

The creation of the DHS just added a new veneer of political patronage over 22 agencies and 180,000 federal employees. Kerik's appointment is only the most visible evidence of that patronage at work. Bush has been given his orders to enforce the rule of semi-managed chaos in the area of "homeland security"- whatever that means- just like he's done in the area of the War on Drugs- whatever that is. When an attack is needed, one will be whipped up and then flogged by the willing news media until attentions again wane and another is required. None will be prevented or fully solved, and no one will be allowed- again with the complicity of our objective media- to point the finger at the neoconservative goal of world domination for Israel.
Kerik doesn't have the connections or skills necessary to run a single agency, much less twenty-two agency cultures competing with each other for primacy. He'll most likely push the "local" angle of security- not a totally bad idea, of course- while failing miserably to obtain the funding or support to allow such a philosophy to come to useful fruition.
Kerik has been pimped, all right, and it hasn't been just lately. He was front and center from 9:15 AM September 11 on, and the media refused to let go of their new star. Having Kerik glued to Giuliani's shoulder here and Bush's coattail there was just as telling as that photo-op juxtaposing W's salute with the strategically placed Israeli flag; the photo somehow managed to appear in every news service feed of the event. The right people get the message, and the rest have the desires of our rulers subliminally burned into their NFL-addled subconscious.
There is probably a more than even chance that Kerik will need a medium-size disaster- or the last-second aversion of one- to vault him onto the pedestal all good Freeper-minded 'Mercuns will want to place under him. Any takers?
