Dr. Laura, in the past, has landed in hot water for allegedly homophobic remarks. I have listened to her sporadically over the years but have never heard her say anything against homosexuality, even when she had the opportunity.
Recently, a teenager called and asked for her advice on which parent he should choose to live with, the emotionally distant dad or the incompetent mother. During the course of the discussion, he brought up that he had been molested by a stranger. After Dr. Laura finished the discussion of who he should live with, he asked if she could answer one more question. He then said he had homosexual feelings and asked what he should do about it.
Basically, Dr. Laura said not to worry about it and if he's "gay", he's "gay". He brought up the idea of therapy and basically Dr. Laura said only if he wants to.
Maybe Dr. Laura thought he was a homosexual activist trying to get some "homophobic" remarks (I have no reason to think this is the case). But, that doesn't matter. For a conservative expert, she sure lacked anything helpful to say for any listener who might have a real problem dealing with homosexual feelings after being molested by a homosexual predator.
I wonder what she would have said to a child molestation victim who had feelings, desires to molest children. I guess then she'd feel some sort of ethical obligation to help him. Her moral and religious beliefs don't impart any obligation on her.

But you have to be realistic. Past problems and concerns about publicity do tend to affect what people say and how they behave. And how many of the people who you know will complain when you soften yor stances ever bother to help out or even lend a word of encouragement when you do hold fast to your convictions and take the heat for it?
Just a thought to consider. Dr. Laura certainly isn't perfect IMO, but she sure is better than 99% of the mainstream radio personalities out there.

Dr. Laura grates on my nerves like few other women on the air, and that is saying something. She is also a weathervane changing direction whenever it benefits her image to the audience. I thought the porn pictures of her-very nice by the way- would have shut her up, but noooo.
