NBA Pacers go after fans, ending game early

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. ââ¬â Fists were flying. So were cups, plastic bottles and even a chair in one of the ugliest NBA brawls ever ââ¬â and Indiana's Ron Artest was right in the middle of it.
Artest and Stephen Jackson charged into the stands and fought with fans in the final minute of their game against the Detroit Pistons last night, and the brawl forced an early end to the Pacers' 97-82 win.
Officials stopped the game with 45.9 seconds remaining after shoving between the teams spilled into the stands once fans got involved by throwing things at the players near the scorer's table.
"It's the ugliest thing I've seen as a coach or player," said Pistons coach Larry Brown, who was in the middle of the confrontation, trying to break it up.
After several minutes of players fighting with fans in the stands, a chair, beer, ice and popcorn were thrown at the Pacers as they made their way to the locker room in one of the scariest brawls in an NBA game.
"I felt like I was fighting for my life out there," Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. "I'm sorry the game had to end this way."
The Palace announcer said the game was being stopped and pleaded with fans not to throw things.
It all started when Detroit's Ben Wallace went in for a layup and was fouled hard by Artest, and escalated when Artest stormed into the stands after being hit by a full cup.
After being fouled, Wallace wheeled around and pushed Artest in the face. The benches emptied and punches were thrown.
As the players continued shoving each other near center court and coaches tried to restore order, Artest sprawled out on his back on the scorer's table, looking relaxed.
Just when it appeared tempers had died down, Artest was struck by a cup and beverage thrown from the stands. He jumped up and charged into the stands, throwing punches as he climbed over seats.
Fans were punching back, and Jackson and another teammate joined Artest in the melee.
"I was worried about Stephen Jackson and Artest, as silly as they were acting," Brown said.
Security personnel and ushers tried to break up the fighting. Former Pistons player Rick Mahorn, who was seated courtside as a Detroit radio analyst, tried to stop the brawl in the stands.
Jim Mynsberge, Auburn Hills deputy chief of police, said one person was taken to the hospital and there were many other injuries.
"The tape will be reviewed and there will be a full investigation," Mynsberge said. He added that police will also talk to players and fans to gather information.
Detroit's Rasheed Wallace and Indiana's David Harrison were also in or near the stands. Both were trying to break up the fights.
Later, a man in a Pistons jersey approached Artest on the court, shouting at him. Artest punched him in the face, knocking the man to the floor before leaving the court. Artest was pulled away. Jermaine O'Neal stepped in and punched another fan.
"The NBA is withholding comment until it can review the incident," NBA spokesman Tim Frank said.
Mike Ryan of Clarkston, Mich., said Artest attacked him.
"He asked, 'Did you do it? Did you do it?' I said no and he started pummeling me."
The teams next play on Christmas Day in Indianapolis.

After all the hand-wringing, the over-labouring of the word ââ¬Ëdisgraceââ¬â¢ and the odd comment about being ââ¬Åashamed to be humanââ¬Â over the incidence of a bit of "Industrial behaviour" by Spanish football fans in the recent friendly games, letââ¬â¢s look at things a bit closer.
Ministers have jostled with each other to get to microphones and TV cameras, Steven Caborn MP said that he couldn't have imagined what it must have been like for the players and used the word ââ¬Ëdisgraceââ¬â¢, Vine dedicated a programme on Radio 2 to people saying that they were disgusted, ââ¬ÅThe Mirrorââ¬Â thought that it was important enough to give front page status etc.
The England team set themselves up for it in a way by every single one of them wearing Kick Racism out of Football T-shirts following comments made by the Spanish manager to do with French Arsenal player Thierry Henry, which may have been interpreted as ââ¬Ëracistââ¬â¢. The Spanish being less ââ¬ËPCââ¬â¢ than we are supposed to be, perhaps some were reacting in response to this as much as to the number of black players in the England team?
ââ¬ÅHorrificââ¬Â abuse
Black footballer Jermain Jenas said that the abuse he was subjected to on the pitch was ââ¬Ëhorrificââ¬â¢. He must be a very sensitive soul, because if he thinks that name calling in the heat of a big game for only 90 minutes is ââ¬Åhorrificââ¬Â then he wouldnââ¬â¢t last long in a factory with the usual crack and leg pulling that goes on there. One might also say that the "horrors" of getting called names is more than offset by the whopping pay that they receive in relation to the pretty worthless job that they do. The BNP condemns the racist abuse but suggests that this should be put into perspective.
ââ¬ÅRoastingââ¬Â disgrace
But while the Horrors of name-calling has been met by at least two full time, paid campaigns, how about the number of girls who have been raped by footballers in recent times? From Patrick Kluivert who is hero-worshipped at Newcastle to the latest scandal involving an Arsenal goalkeeper, there have been several examples of rape, drugging, assault and the latest phenomenon that the new breed of footballers take part in ââ¬â it is called "roasting".
Every decent person must agree that this is a far more serious issue than rare occasions of name calling by morons, yet there is no campaign to clean this out of the game, and no one seems to want to speak for these poor girls. While the Mirror gave front-page prominence to name calling, The Sun had tucked away on page 7 the pictures of six black professional footballers who gang-raped a girl in London. Why is racist name-calling directed against black men regarded as so much more serious than racist rape on white girls?
But then, like the multi-culti society itself, the game of football is sick. Besotted fans will pay over the odds for anything with their teamââ¬â¢s name on it. They will pay far too much to get in to watch a game and boost the pay packets of foreigners who before they signed "always dreamt of playing for this team", then disappear as quickly as they arrived, badmouthing the team into the bargain. They also cheer and hero worship the shower of low lives that parade for their team.
Perspective
It was also suggested that David Beckham should have led his players off the field because of the crowd behaviour. My last word is, sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt you. If there is a time to take your players off the field it is when tackles that are more like assaults are coming in on players that could cripple and end careers. It never ceases to amaze me about how serious things such these mentioned never get taken seriously, yet trivial name-calling gets blown out of all proportion.
Still, thatââ¬â¢s multi-cultural, PC Britain for you, and no amount of lunacy or lack of commonsense should ever surprise us.

The only Gods that there are are the ones that man makes, in this case some blacks who are given millions upon million only tho play baskeball???????
Your Gods are human therefore you must expect them to screw up once in a while,,,,,,what to do in this case? well, stop going to the games and as far as I am concern they are a danger to the general public.
As far as I am concern a teacher is worth 10 of those so called baskeball players.

Apeman Ron Artest has been suspended for the rest of the NBA season. Should've been suspended for life. A few other teamates got lengthy suspensions too. I hope they get sued and fined to the max.
If there's any silver lining in this exhibition of n!gger behavior is that at least the White man fought back. 5'9" 35-40 year old White sports fans managing to get some shots in against 20-something 6'9" raging congoid athletes.
I hope this philosophy spreads.

I agree, x. One thing I've found surprising (though I probably shouldn't be so naive) is all of the sports columnists who are making apologies for Artest and the players and trying to place blame on the fans.
It's under the surface for sure, but without a doubt this is a racially-supercharged issue, especially how and where one places the blame for this fight. While on a much smaller scale, it appears to me that opinions on the matter are sharply divided just like the OJ murder trial verdict.
Nevertheless, the NBA has a real problem on its hands. The league administration, the coaches and their staff and the sports columnists who earn their living writing about it all do not want to admit it, but a real problem exists. When you have nothing but tattooed, dreadlocked thugs playing a game, corporate family (white) middle-cla$$ America doesn't want anything to do with it and each season this becomes more and more apparent.

I want to agree with you, but my better judgement says that the idiot got a small taste of what he deserved. Stepping back from the adrenaline rush provided by watching seven foot tall urban gorillas attack white folk, a thoughtful analysis of the situation might end up providing the conclusion that these stupid white drunks- after paying for or taking from their boss a $300 ticket- might just benefit from a good *sswhipping. And the video provided by the slaughter could be invaluable.
Sure, the guy in the number jersey stood up to an ape, but you have to think it was idiot machismo combined with 72 ounces of malted courage. Just being at one of these contests- shoot, even following or caring about last night's scores- qualifies the typical white "sportsfan" as an idiot, at least in my opinion.
I guess it isn't amazing these days, but the mostly-white sports analysts I watched out of curiosity about the story have been on the side of the players- and by that, I'm saying they were claiming the players had rights to self defense. I'll ask Walter if that defense would stand up anywhere, given that these apes average 100 pounds and a full foot over any fan they might face, and the fact that the drunks merely pelted them with liquid and popcorn.
It was almost awe-inspiring to hear the desparate spinning these sports geniuses puked out- moaning over the horrible depravity as fans dumped beer on the million-dollar rapists exiting the floor. I'll give the sportscasters the fact that these fans are idiots who should be shunned- I do that anyway, whenever some poor manhood deprived "fan" tries to engage me in a conversation about which millionaire black tribe is better than some other. But the depravity starts a long time before Dougie pours his precious eight dollar Bud (in the Kobe Bryant souvenir mug) onto some thug's nappy head that contains a room-temp IQ and designs on Dougie's daughters.
In my opinion, these animals deserve what Ray Lewis escaped- long jail terms and loss of their career. If I assaulted another person with a deadly weapon over being doused with a beer, I would deserve the same- and would surely receive it. I'm sure the media machine, the corporate interests, and the idiot fans themselves will conspire to make heroes out of the apes, and they'll be raking in the dough from their latest "FanKill" videogame idiotic NFL/NBA fandads will buy for their kids- and themselves.

You have to understand that -nowadays - being a 'sports journalist' is like having a free pass through life. You get to call yourself a 'reporter' even though you're covering the Toy Dept of life. You get to earn as much or more than a real reporter who has to cover crime or politics or - I was going to say [I]war[/I], but lately that's like working in the GI Joe aisle of the Toy Dept, at least in the American press (are you listening, Judith Miller?). You get to go on tv to swap your meaningless opinions with other 'sports journalists' - and you don't hafta be in the media to understand that [I]tv face-time [/I] can move the decimal point on your paycheck one or two spaces to the right in record time.
But you have to be an artful dodger first. You have to be able to look at a thing like the brawl in Detroit, and -without mussing your hair or missing a beat - instantly spin it so that EVERYBODY'S guilty...especially the white men being punched by niggers. You have to retool the way you think so that you can cover the Kobe Bryant rape trial yet never refer to him as a 'rapist', or to Ray Lewis as a 'double murderer', or to Jayson Williams as a 'depraved killer'. This way you can cheer them on later when they sack the qb or throw up a buzzer-beater!
But careful not to [I]totally [/I] retool that brain of yours.... Lord knows, John Rocker might say something about 'queers with purple hair', or Fuzzy Zoeller might make a crack about Tiger Woods and 'fried chicken', and you may be called upon to appear on ESPN and demand that white monster's head on a pole.

The NBA should put up big cages around all their teams courts, separating the players from the fans. That way they can keep the tatooed and dreadlocked black thugs they call players from hurting the white, rich, sports junkies who pay money to see such circuses. It is a lot cheaper than law suits and loss of lives. Zoos have been doing this for ages.

The NBA should put up big cages around all their teams courts, separating the players from the fans.
I suggest some of those shock collars used for training dogs to stay in the yard. One foot outside the bassetball court and ZAP!
Of course, dogs are a lot nicer, so I wouldn't ever use one on a pup, but we're dealing with truly vicious animals in this case.

I don't watch a lot of television, and so only this AM did I finally see this tempest in a teapot.
This probably sounds naive, but the thing that always strikes me is just how freeking big, strong and fast those guys are. Whoa. Unbelievable athletes. They were also pretty obviously dumb as rocks. IQ's somewhere in the low 80's. I mean, just look at the shape of their heads. Just look at the focused-yet-vacant look in their eyes.
And they're very excitable boys - their fight-or-flight reflexes are very tighly wound and poised on hair triggers. They're all gas and no brake. Impulse-reaction, impulse-reaction. That's what they are. The way the whole thing just spiraled out of control from some routine dispute among players really underscores this. There was ZERO rational thought througout the incident. There was absolutely no evidence of even the smallest voice in their heads saying "okay, calm down . . . this ain't worth it . . . get control of youself . . . " It's clear to me that they JUST DON'T HAVE a higher-brain override function.
Which in automotive terms makes them supercharged deisel half ton trucks without brakes.
They beautifully exemplify these same tendencies that typify the entire Negroid race. Africans are just much more creatures of instinct than either Europeans or Asians.
And I really do mean "beautiful." Those Negroes are beautiful in their own way, they really are. I disagree that there is nothing to recommend watching them play a game that was tailor made for them, like basketball. They're a real sight to behold. (Not that I watch professional sport as I have too much else going on for that sort of thing, but I certainly understand it).
But despite their animal beauty, you really can't have them around, because you never really know what will set them off. They can get spooked (no pun intended) by anything, really. Imagine that this was a pick-up game in some ghetto, and one of the brothers had his fight-or-flight instinct seriously tweeked like that big Negra who started the fight with the fan. Now imagine that they've all got gats tucked away someplace. People would have died. No wonder they're shooting the black arses off each other.
Expect nothing good from the black race. Left to their own devices they'll turn a properous Rhodesia into a starving Zimbabwe real quick, and they'll do it every time.
I wish them well, but at the same time I see what they are and adjust my expectations accordingly. How in the world could anyone watch that little NBA dust-up and think that blacks are the same as whites? Who could possibly want one of those players as a neighbor? Only 40 hours/week of relentless televitz propaganda over many years could accomplish such a powerful doublethink reflex.
I really just can't have them in the same country as me. They really all have to move to Liberia.
They can organize a basketball league there for them. I'll watch the championship via satellite.
